That’s funny! Lol. In this case you can call horse shit since I build barns. Haha
I’ve got multiple projects in progress.

2nd story steel balcony for an addition project.

New concrete and Oklahoma flag stone patio & sidewalk.

Getting ready for irrigation, masonry borders around trees, 11x pallets of zoysia grass & landscaping.

I’ve got another client with 250’ of trex privacy fence for their back yard.

I just had 30 acres cleared of cedar trees and ground vegetation for a arena & equestrian center project. I’m looking forward to this project!

A patio on the back of the house is near the top of my list. That looks sharp. I need to find a contractor that isn’t having to finance an Alpha Tundra.

Thank you! This 2nd story steel porch I’m building is going to have floating stairs, stainless steel tension cables, timber rafters, Trex composite decking & trex stair treads. My Tundra is just a perk of all my years of hard work.

You clearly do some fantastic work. Nice to see people reap the rewards. A new employee asked me today how I worked my way up. I said “For starters, I wasn’t late three times in my first month here” and left it at that.

Huge pet peeve of mine. I have two guys that are going to be jobless, carless, womanless, and most likely homeless.

Yeah, this guy isn’t gonna make it through the 90 day probationary period, I can promise you that. As soon as I got the email notification about the new hire, I checked his Facebook out. I called the guy who hired him and asked what the hell he was thinking. (I didn’t interview or meet him ahead of time.)

That’s a good lesson for anybody looking for work. Make all of your social media private, or at least don’t have a bunch of dumb shit on it. We look at them.

Easiest way to mess up a job = Show up late / not show up.

I have known some very incompetent workers that always seem to hang in there; they always showed up for work, early too.

At the very least, it gives them a good reason to cut you if they don’t like you. I’ve also tolerated it from a guy in the past, but he was a stellar worker. He eventually became more punctual, and is one of the first guys in nowadays, but he wouldn’t have made it if he hadn’t been so damned good.

Great if you stay in District 12, 20, 38.

Thank you for your service! I've heard about your jails down there, and you've had your work cut out for you!

Its funny how guard isn't a liked name by all. It doesn't bother me. I've been called boss, lady boss, ma'am and several colourful names haha. As long as they don't call me mom, I'm good. First thing I tell them... 'I'm not your mother'

So early next year I might have some opportunities to make a career change... either a similar job at a different company, or changing to something else altogether, but using mostly the same skillset.

My current employer is notorious for "golden handcuffs" and almost anywhere, even what would be considered a "big promotion" is likely a 10-25% pay cut. Anyone out there run into a similar situation where they took a pay cut (hopefully just initially) to move up professionally? How did it work out? I'm in my 30s, so a good friend (whose career advice I value a LOT) said I'm too young to stay somewhere for a bit more money.

Taking any kind of a pay cut should temporary. Hopefully less than a year. I would try to have a very clear idea of what any employment change would develope into, potential future earnings. 10% is one thing, 25% seems huge.
Change can be good, so can staying at one place. Maybe look around longer for a job that does not pay less.
    Good Luck!

My wife took a 20% cut for a different job within the same company 4 years ago. She absolutely hated her job and would be in tears coming home some days.

1 year later her yearly bonus went from 12% of her pay to 21 and the next year she got a raise that brought her within 2k of her previous salary.

We knew it would get better and her mental health was more important than the money at the time.
