Gnarly course. Took us right about 20 hours. My section was crazy. Deepest silt that we have ever seen. Only hiccup was us slamming a tree at 60. Thankfully truck was still good and we jammed another 500 miles to finish. Looking like a top ten may be possible, we will see how everything shakes out. That tree hurt, gonna have whiplash for a bit!

Don’t know how the truck stayed together so well from that. We had no issues after. Got lucky!

That’s insane! Blown away you could continue 500 miles after hitting a fucking tree going 60!

Made some progress on my bumper today (more progress than shown here. Got in a grove and forgot to take pics).

Reaaaallllyyyy would love to cut that crossmember out of there, but I’m not looking to cut up this truck and would like to be able to use the factory tow points. Just trying to keep the skid at a nice angle. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow it’s done or is just drying overnight!

Bumper is on holdddddd. This is how far I got. Honestly it just started fighting me so I decided to hold off and keep going when I wasn’t so mad lol.

    0EBB5BC3-4D1F-430F-A7DD-3CB8DFF1C689.jpg

Also, not sure I’m going to be happy with it without cutting out that crossmember. Not ready to cut that yet either so I think I’m going to take some time to looks at some options.

    :annoyed:

I’ve been trying to figure out what leafs I want to run, but it doesn’t really seem like there is anything out there that fits my needs the best.

    K37
    U748
    RXT

The goal is to just have a better riding pack all around, while gaining AS LITTLE lift as possible. Trying to keep this truck low and mean.

I like the idea of the RXT’s, but I’m afraid that even on option 1 they are going to be higher than I want. Pretty much the same things with the U748.

I like the height of the K37 but you have to run a shackle, and by time time I do that I think it will be close in height to the other two packs.

As of now I think I would get the RXT, as they come highly recommended by quite a few people. However, the gears in my brain are turning and I’m thinking about doing the K37’s with “cantilever” air shocks that I can blow up when I put a trailer behind the truck. Kibbetech has done this on a couple trucks and it seems like it could be a good option.

@KevinK i know you have done a ton of research, what are your thoughts?

Hey brother. I have the rxt pack.. ride wise, I'm very pleased... let me rephrase that, I was. Once I removed the hitch it took alot of weight out of the rear and the ride got much stiffer. But that's no issue with the pack. The thing I really like about the rxt is they have 3 settings. So you almost get the k37 and the u748 in one pack. I've had the 748s in my hands and those mfers are BEEFY. I think the rxt would suit you best, just from an adjustability standpoint and what your looking to do.

Yeah I think that’s probably what I’m going to go with to be honest. Still need to get a full-size spare and mount my jack and all that. Pretty much like the sdhq chase rack but I only want one spare and hate how much space that sucker takes up!

@Erichudgins do you have a pic of your truck with it sitting light like you are talking about? Just trying to get an idea on ride height unloaded on the RXT’s

So this is the rxt pack on option 1. And for reference, I do NOT have a hitch or a spare under the bed. But I do have the sdhq chase rack. And a full size 37 spare. According to sdhq the chase rack weighs around 150# and I'd say that's pretty close to the hitch weight. All that being said this would be about the equivalent of a stock truck with roughly 100 lbs in the bed. Measuring at the front of the slider and the back of the slider, it has .25 inch of lift in the rear vs the front.

I’ve done a shitload of research and so far it’s led me to stick with the stock springs with a 3/4” shackle and a 1” block to help clear the 37s without a bunch of lift. I haven’t found a really good solution that keeps it low.

All of that said, RXT with the extended bypasses is our most likely new rear suspension at some point. The adjustability is attractive.

I’m interested in which way you end up going. I know a lot of AZ guys have gone to Valley Spring and been happy with their custom packs.

Added the RXT’s this weekend. Install was pretty straight forward and no issues were ran into.

First impression was that holy crap even on setting 1 these things are tall! But, in talking with Joey at SDHQ he said to not freak out, put some weight in the bed and they will break in. That being said, I really don’t carry any extra weight at this point in time. The plan is to at some point figure out a good way to get a full size spare in the bed. For the time being, I ran by Home Depot and grabbed a few sand bags to help it settle in while I drive around for the first few weeks. Kinda ghetto, I know. But, it will help me get the springs to settle in some and to sit down where they need to be.

Gonna try to find some time to hit some dirt and help mash the springs down some.

They ride great though, I notice a huge difference. I’m just hoping that I can get the ride height that I want without having to add weight to the bed just to add weight. If after a couple weeks they don’t sit where I want them too, I will probably go in and pull a leaf to help it sit down some.

One note, chances are that I will be adding limit straps to the setup. Without the RXT shocks from ICON, the shocks are definitely the limiting factor in the setup. I don’t want to use the shocks as limit straps (all that force would be put on a small c-clip in the shock). I’m going to get some time to play with it before I make that decision though.

All in all pretty happy. Some concerns with height and the shocks limiting the drop. They ride great though, and I’m hoping that I can tweak everything to get it to work for me.

Sorry, didn’t remember to take any pictures.

Actually, my company does a lot of work out there and I’m good friends with our logistics guy. Maybe we could make it work haha

Way late update, but @Erichudgins was nice enough to sell me his SDHQ chase rack. Shipped that baby across the country on the back of a semi for my company. Grabbed a couple spares and she’s all set up for now.

Also, some cool things coming soon but keeping things on the DL at the moment, hense the blacked out rear bumper :anonymous:

Truck got a little face lift over the last couple weeks. White grill and bulge, new front and rear bumpers and a 30” onx bar.

Also had her loaded down to play this weekend. Got some more seat time and got to play with my driving skills. Always a good time!
