Agreed. I always recommend a pistol or rimfire can first though - they’re the most fun, usually the cheapest to feed and you can shoot a bunch with no ear protection.

This! LOL! I think I have about 12 stamps now. Trying to upgrade my old cans that weren’t serviceable to the newer cans that you can break down.
Just start the process ASAP. The first one was hell waiting. After about 4 or 5 you just forget about them and then the dealer calls and it’s like Christmas all over again :D

I own a 400 sq ft FFL that keeps around 60 firearms in stock at any given moment. We are a Glock stocking dealer and can handle silencers and other NFA stuff.

I don't typically get involved with the day to day stuff as my partner handles that stuff

I'm geting into long range shooting. Just picked up a Ruger American "Go Wild" edition in 6.5 Creedmoor. Shoots like a dream. I tossed a crappy scope on it (already had it laying around), but turned around and grabbed a vortex crossfire II 4-12x44 because the other one sucked @ 100 yds. This Crossfire should net me 500+ yards. The big debate is 129 grain or 140 grain bullets.

Figure out which range you’d like to shoot most accurately at, and send a box of each down range.
Normally 6.5 Creed is a 1:8, which by theory the 140’s would be best. 1:8.5 or 1:9 the 129’s may take the cake.
I had my .308 shooting .381” at 100 with 168SMK’s, but at 500 they weren’t as accurate as the 175SMK’s. Unfortunately the 175’s opened up to .40’s at 100 but it was worth the gain at 500.

Here’s a Stag-15 16” carbine I built and used recently at a 10K run and gun biathlon. It got pretty muddy when I had to crawl through two mud-filled culverts in one of the obstacles before the first rifle stage. Incredibly, it never jammed or malfunctioned, no matter how wet and muddy it got, or many times it got banged up on a tree or wooden fence. I used a budget Burris TAC30 1-4x20mm variable scope, which also got badly smeared with mud. Had to wipe the mud off the lenses with a finger, so the view wasn’t the best, but it still let me hit the steel gong twice out to 500 yards at the distance stage.

Very nice Ed!!! I’ve always wanted to do one of those! It’s always nice to have true knowledge of how your weapon operates under conditions that are not perfect. Self defense battles don’t happen at the range (with the devestaing exception of Chris Kyle killed by the bitch-ass Routh; which since then I’ve 100% changed my ways in how I go shooting and who with).
Sadly enough, some of my most reliable AR’s are a 1/2 the cost of my top tier. Colt LE6920’s, Larue, Noveske, BCM, Daniel Defense - all of which have had one issue or another and my shitty Franken-Built DPMS lower with a Delton Kit runs tits.
The Del-Ton has shits of thousands of rounds down the tube and isn’t nearly as accurate, but it will engage targets like a mother fucker :D

PS - Remember the Gun Pics thread on TTORA? I still have a note in my cases of lowers with a lower reserved for Surfing Drunk LMAO! :D

    078DC3BF-DD4B-43CC-ABD0-6590EC7E542E.jpg

PSS - at your first chance, upgrade the Burris. I’ve had more than one issue with Burris (thankfully only hunting) over the years and they don’t care to accept issues, and make them right. Not a company I’ll ever support again. And scary as F putting one on a possible rig that might save a life.

I know they’re twice the cost, but the Trijicon Accupoints (not AccuPower) have been Fing amazing over the years. You can pick them up used for the price of some new Leupys. I don’t hunt gravel roads - we do straight timber/mountains - fall into trees, rocks, hillsides, we hunt absolute shit sometimes - and my Trijicons have taken beatings and held dead nuts zero. Worth every single penny.
(I run Nightforce now as well).

Ha! Sounds like you have a nice collection! Surprised to hear about your top tier ARs, though. I figured they'd be the ones with the least issues? My Stag is the only AR I have, so I have nothing to compare it to. So far so good, but it still has less than a thousand rounds through it.

Also disappointed to hear about your Burris experience. I will say, when I lost a turret cap during the biathlon and emailed Burris to buy another one, they said there was no need to buy one and instead sent me two spares, which I appreciated. But the Burris is still only a year old, and it's only been abused once at that biathlon. Disappointed to hear it may give me issues as time goes on. Excellent advice on buying a used Trijicon Accupoint. I'll definitely look into that!

Crazy on your Burris experience! Maybe they changed their ways. My dealings with them were 10+ years ago, so they very well could’ve changed.
Trijicon hands down for reliable, tank-built, quality glass at an affordable price. I have them on multiple rigs and they kick ass and take a beating. The top-tiers weren’t exposed to normal range settings. Their barrels were glowing. Tollernaces are tighter than Del-Ton.

Just did my annual qualification for LEOSA yesterday from 2pm to 7:30 pm a loooong afternoon, but worth it.
Day time quail, combat shoot, and night time quail. I qualified with my three C/C pistols, shot higher scores at night..go figure. (150 rnds per pistol to qualify) done!!

A good time night firing...we had these lights to our backs while firing and they were on full strobe.

Apologies, I should’ve specified, I meant the original Saint AR15 (5.56). I don’t have the pistol but it’s definitely on my wish list.

As far as the AR, I really like it. It’s shoots smooth and is comfortable to use. I’d definitely buy it again, especially at the prices you can pick them up for.
