I have a 19 Limited and want to add back up sensors to it... other than the obvious in getting the end caps and harness run; What else will I need. Do I have to get the ECM updated to tell the system it now has backup sensors? I'm good with my part numbers.. just wonder if it will need additional dealership programming.

im sure it wont be cheap to add, but I have all the parking sensors andwhat not that youd need. just not sure what all it would require to make work on a truck that doesn't come equipped with it.

    None, yet....
Unfortunately, it requires a ton of parts to work. Main Body ECUs, harnesses etc. Probably not worth it from a financial perspective.

yea that's what I figured.im sure the main harness of the vehicle is probably different as well. I see that being a lot of money and risk with little reward.. Sorry for the negative feedback OP

I have a 2019 crewmax limited and the rear bumper has the sensors already installed. When in reverse I do not get an audible alarm. I do not have park assist option on my truck. What can I do to make the rear sensors beep when in reverse? Is there a switch or setting to turn an audible alarm on? If not what are the sensors for?

My button is on the lower right set of switches above the brake controller. Has a "P" on it. 2018 Crew Max TRD Offroad. Attached is a picture of a limited for example.

Does the Front bumper have sensors? If not then you probably only have RCTA and BSM.

I will check to see if I have sensors on the front. I don't have blind spot monitor. I guess I assumed new cars had backup audible alerts. It has sensors for something on the rear bumper. My 2010 ford had what appears to be the same sensors and would alert to objects behind you.

The rear sensor should only beep if your getting close to an object while in reverse. The closer you get the faster it should beep until you rear end something

Sorry to bring up an old thread but does anyone here know if there is an "extension cord" available for the parking sensor wires that plug into the parking sensor on/off switch next to the steering wheel? I am trying to relocate the parking sensor on/off switch down below the air control in the glass break sensor spot. I am sure I could cut the wires and splice in some additional length but would much rather have a plug and play cable if available. I currently have a button for my front camera where the parking sensor switch was and am trying to button my project up. Another crazy thing toyota did was make the slots for each switch (parking sensor, tow haul, traction, glass break) all different. Each switch has a designated location in the truck (can be resolved with minor modification). Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Anyone found a good quality aftermarket backup sensor kit? Most of them seem pretty cheap.

I would also consider some thing that mounts to the license plate frame, and that might actually be preferable. Though I don’t know how well that would work sensing at the corners.
