I plan on using the middle setting for my Bilstein 5100’s up front.

Using the middle setting, do I use one or both of these washers?

I appreciate your help...I can’t find the answer anywhere and I plan on installing these on Saturday.

I don't think the washers have anything to do with which setting you use, the snap ring on the body of the shock determines the setting/height

The directions indicate that if the lowest height setting is used, the washers aren’t needed. So it appears there is a correlation between the height setting and the washers.

The washers are for the bump stops. Turn them off, throw the spacer on and reinstall.

Makes sense. Both washers for the middle height setting or just one?

Tundras have two bump stops per side. They have nothing to do with the spring setting and everything to do with shock body length and bottoming.

That's what I figured. Necessary if not constantly bottoming out?

It literally takes 3 minutes per side. They'll be staring you in the face while youre doing the shocks. Easiest part of the job.

Post some pictures OP when you do the install! When I replaced the shocks on my 08, I'm strongly considering the Bilsteins.

Let us know how the install goes. Want to go this route myself but concerned about doing the installation. Would love to hear about your experience with the install.

I have switched back and forth from the stock bumps and super bumps. You are correct it literally takes only a few minutes per side. Even with the wheels on, I was able to just jack the truck up and swap them out.

Well...the install is complete. Overall it was a huge success. However, there was a substantial learning curve. This project is by no means for everybody. Took me all day to do the front and only about an hour to do the rear.

I recommend having all the right tools (especially a torque wrench), take your time, and make sure you give yourself plenty of time to complete this project. Also, it’s a huge help if you have a competent person with you to lend a hand.

The ride on the middle setting of the 5100’s is a very noticable improvement over stock.

I’m very glad I did it and I’m extremly happy with the finished product.

Did you need a tool to remove those or you can crank them out by hand?

Channel locks to remove the old ones and the big allen wrench that comes with the superbumps to install. Lube up the threads of the oem bumps from above the A arm. Suggest letting it sit overnight.

Any need to modify (lower) front diff with the 5100 install? Most leveling kits require a diff lowering to keep the angles correct on the axles.
