Your state law says 35% on sides and your windshield only the top 5 inches
Keep that in mind when trying to get your truck inspected it won’t pass. Unless you know someone [cough] [cough]

You may want to do sides slightly higher tint than rears to account for light entering windshield, someone else may mention proper %, I forget.

20% ceramic all the way around. So the rear is basically limo. Nothing on the front glass. It looks extra dark because I have a sunshade up whenever it’s parked. In very bright sunlight, you can still see inside with the sunshade out. It doesn’t look ghetto or cheesy. Just the right amount of class! I would like to get some ceramic tint on the front window but I don’t want it dark. 267BBD10-3AC9-4497-A44B-F880FB59FAD9.jpg

I drove my buddy’s Ram with the top strip tinted the other day. If you aren’t short you won’t be able to see a damn thing at night. It was right in my line of sight and super distracting.

Ceramic tint is much better than just putting a darker color film over your windows. You’ve heard of putting a ceramic coating headers? It’s used to keep the heat out. I didn’t use it on my wife’s car but we used the same 20%. I can tell the difference between our two vehicles. Especially out in the desert.

The way the guy sold it on me was by using a bright heat lamp test. He would hold up a slide of standard tint in front of the bulb and you would put your hand in front of it. Then with no tint. Then the ceramic tint. And the difference was huge! It cost a little more but was well worth it. I will never use standard tint again. It’s been a while but I want to say it will even block more of the UV rays then enter your vehicle. For me, it’s the difference between buying liquor store sunglasses and a set of quality ones from the sunglass store.

Please keep in mind tint on the front wind sheild is dangerous as hell at night. Visibility terrible with objects that are not illumated like peds walking in front of you ! Also if you hit somethingor someone the liability is on yours by modifying the windshield.. Insurance will try not to cover you lawyers love you in lawsuits.. Just my 2 cents from someone who was a P.O for 30 years on the road.

I put a strip on my windshield...HATED it. I'm 6'5" and my eye level was right at the transition line. I found myself either constantly scrunching down to see under the strip, or exerting myself to stretch up to look through it. Either way, unnatural and exhausting. I finally removed it and wish I did it sooner.

My strip doesn’t bother me any. It may be lighter than most maybe. I may just be used to it. I’m 6ft

There is an AS-1 line on the front windshield. Cannot be tinted below.

Mary Land has gestapo type police tactics and you will be pulled over.

Consult your tint shop as they know what they are doing better than you do.

Is there a difference in the cabin temp using ceramic tint during the SoCal summer?

Definitely. I mean if it’s hot outside and your trucks parked out in the heat, it’s eventually going to get hot inside no matter what. But the intensity of the sun shining through the windows is definitely less. My wife and I have the same percentage of tint but mine is ceramic. Both of our cars are white but mine is definitely cooler. The best way to describe it would be the sun doesn’t feel like a freaking laserbeam.
