    Hey guys,

I wanted to go larger on my next set of tires, but I need to know the offset of the wheels before I can make a decision on the size of the tire. The wheels are from the Texas edition and they are 20x9. I know if I lift the truck, my options on tire sizes increases. However, I still need to get into the parking garage at work. If I did a 3" lift with 34's, the roof of the truck would definitely scrape the beams in the garage.

My current tires are 275 55 20. The bulge of the tire is flush with the fender while the tread is slightly inside the fender. This also means that the wheel is almost flush with the fender:

Also, the tread of the tire is about 1.75" from the UCA and the bulge of the wheel is about 1" from the spindle:

does this wheel look to have about a +18 offset?

I was hoping not to lift the truck and thinking about going with 295 55 20 tires.

Here is how much clearance I have at full lock at the front of the fender:

And here is the clearance at the front mud flap:

    So, based on my current wheel, I think that a 295 55 20 would fit. or maybe a 305 55 20? I think a 295 60 20 would be too large without a lift.

I don't mind doing some trimming and liner modifications. At most, I might consider 5100's set at 0.87" of lift.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,

    EDIT:
I finally got around to taking the wheel off the truck and looking at the inside of it. I found the stamp that looks to be the offset (hard to see though). I also measured the backspace as best I could and it came in around 7". It looks like the offset is 50mm.

This means that if I want to go to a 295 tire and keep these wheels, I will need to use wheel spacers. Using the spidertrax 1.25" spacers, that would put the total offset at about 18mm.

    Thanks for the help.

ya, I get that, but it is difficult to take that measurement with a high level of accuracy; especially with the tire mounted to the wheel :)

I'd say if the wheels came factory from Toyota, they are +60 offset. Just like the limited, Platinum, steelies, and PRO wheels.

They look roughly +35 to me. I used to have 20x9 xd monsters with a +35 offset on 275/65/20 tires and they say damn near flush with the fender well.

BUT measure the distance from the edge of the wheel (interior side) to the hub. That'll give you the baskspacing. Then look up that wheel and see all possible backspacingg/offset options for that size and you the backspacingg to tell you offset.

That's what I've done, it's not easy being 100% accurate but
It'll probably only have one option close to what you measure so if you measure like 5.5 inches and Internet said tire options are 5.75 it'll probably be that one. And you can find all the specs for exactly that wheel.

As far as new wheels go. For 3 inch lift most people do +18 to +35 offset on 295/60/20 (or equivalent for 18 inch wheels). I have 305/55/20 on 3 inch lift and 20x9 wheels +18 offset and I wish I went bigger. 295/55/20 is even smaller than 305/55/20 (in the tire I bought at least in true dimensions)

As far as no lift goes, some one else will need to chime in. I bet a 295/55/20 would fit with the right offset wheel, and some minor trimming.

    Many to come.
I think you should find another job where there are not such limits on your truck lift.

Thanks. I will try measuring the backspace to calculate the offset. The issue is that I cannot "look up" the wheel. I can't find specs on this wheel at all. That's why I made this post :)

If you take the wheel off the truck and lay something on the lip of the rim then measure from where the rim bolts to the hub to lip of the rim then take that measurement and go online to a offset Calculator that is the easiest way to figure it out.

some wheels have the offset cast in them. In the picture below #2 is the offset. E... something

In the pic below, it's the 40mm offset:
    LEAFwheel2_bc98641a8fee5e9c723d2d089effff1233ed913e.jpg

You'll have to take the wheel off and look for the numbers...

(not my pictures, just others I found in the internet...)
