Brutal. I didn't charge the young couple on that one, we still did free estimates back then and to be honest I wanted to put my fuidmaster in her flapper.

I've actually written a few short stories about the adventures I had, don't know where they went. Everything from a lady offering her daughter for payment to lowering myself into a lift station with a van and a ratchet strap. I miss those days.

Ok. So. Partially successful. Old flapper looked like this and the fill vavle gasket was in similar condition.

    2CB6C9FA-9673-4BDF-9290-F2D1DAE801BC.jpg

I’m sure the inside of the fill valve was equally ‘aged’. Got everything back together. Flushes and fills fine. Much better than it used to. However, it fills, then the float sinks a bit and it starts filling again. This continually repeats. No leaks at the bottom of the tank and flapper is secure. What did i miss?

Pay no mind to me. Readjusted the float just a bit and all is well.

Glad you got it fixed up. If you’re ever wondering if your flapper is leaking slowly put a little food coloring in the tank. But this can drive some people nuts trying to fix a very slow leak. So if it’s not refilling every hour try not to pay attention to it.

    MAN!! Talk about foreshadowing!!

Came home to a flooded apartment! Apparently my hot water heater busted and flooded my apartment and the one next to mine. Been spending the last 6 hours dealing with the hot water heater, ceilings, walls, and fishing everything out the flooded areas and dealing with insurance/property manager. I’m soaked and nursing my emotions with a few beers now.

Don’t even care about the sloshing in my clothes and shoes now LOL

All I can say for now is....thank God for insurance also that doc and I are cautious about certain things, leading us to always get renters insurance no matter where we go!

Holy hell!! I’ve NEVER seen a flapper look like that!!

You either have serious acid water, nuclear material or aggressive carcinogens in your tank!!
