I’ve read over 20 threads and cant find the info I want, so I thought I’d ask. If there’s a thread already, please be so kind as to share the link.

Are the blue and yellow Bilsteins from a 2018 TRD worth upgrading to from stock SR5 stocks?
Will they work on a 2wd?
    Will they level my truck?
    Will my ride improve?
    Are they adjustable?

    Any info is appreciated.
    Thank you.

They are Bilstein 4600's. They will work. They will offer a stiffer ride than the SR5 black shocks. No lift and not adjustable.

So they’ll help with handling and towing, but might make the gf gripe about bumps?

I don’t think they are much stiffer than the SR5 black ones. I still have the 4600s on my 18 and the ride is pretty smooth. No complaints from my wife or anyone for that matter. Will likely be a slight upgrade but I wouldn’t spend that much to upgrade. Find a slightly used set of take offs.

i just replaced the rear stocks on my 07 SR5 with the TRD blue and red shocks and just received the front ones today but they say that they are for the FR (front right) would it make any difference the old ones look exactly the same.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
I also have stock shocks on my 2010 SR5 4x4 and have wondered about this. What about the TRD SPORT shocks? Anyone know the number for those? What will they do for the ride? What about the TRD red and blue shocks? Stock shocks = comfortable ride whereas TRD Blue/Yellow or Blue/Red = ????? Any clarification is greatly appreciated.

It was a joke. She drives the rubicon most of the time, and it’s a way rougher ride. Lol.

Wouldn’t call it an upgrade. Definitely wouldn’t pay for them. Probably wouldn’t pay to have them installed if they were free. Go 5100’s if looking for a cheap upgrade, it at least offers some benefits over stock shock. The blue and yellow are just nice and colorful so they can tack on a few extra $$ for the “TRD” package.

Been on the 5100’s (had OEM 4600, then Monroe gasp!) for a few months now and can attest to them being a great value. They allow a bit of lift on the front. They are a firm and sporty ride. Seem very heavy duty as they tow and haul nicely. Best shock of the 3 I’ve had on the 1st Gen.

I’m not running the Baja 500 or climbing cliffs so I haven’t looked at these other highly rated shocks all the big money guys are installing.

I've had stock black shocks, 5100s, 4600s and now Toytec

The 5100s at the top setting definitely ride firmer than the black and 4600 shocks.

The 4600s do feel a bit more firm but better damped than the black shocks. Not worth the labor to upgrade to 4600s, IMO when the 5100 are so cheap and also provide front lift.
