I created a thread a while back but nobody had any advice. I think what happened is the previous owner of my truck used 4wd on pavement and the chain in the transfer case stretched. It doesn't make a noise until about 25 mph and then it's kind of a grinding noise but only when I'm accelerating or decelerating. It was worse but when I checked the fluid level in the T-case it was slightly low so I overfilled it. Now it's not as bad. It could be a bad bearing too. It doesn't look like the t-cases go bad very often as the junkyard had 8 of them but no engines or transmissions. Like you I'm going to have to open it up and see what's wrong. I thought about buying one of those cheap Harbor Freight lipstick cameras so I could look in though the fill plug hole but I'm not sure if that'll tell me much.

The tensioner? Mine was making a horrible noise and I had to have my tensioner replaced. Back to silent Tundie cruisin’
