Anyone have some advice for mounting a tv to a brick fireplace? Such as anchor to mortar or brick, which anchors are best.

    It's a 65" tv, weighs around 50 pounds

Tapcon screws are probably your best bet.

lag and lag shields. Id go in brick if you don't care about holes later when the TV comes down.

Tap cons are your best bet.make sure they are long enough to get a good bite into the brick. Also,be sure to use the right size masonry drill bit for the right size tap cons

You mean the lead ones, or the plastic drywall anchor looking ones?

Should I shoot to punch through the back side of the brick, or just the front face?

The mount usually comes with the plastic anchors and lags needed for masonry, some are better than others. I have no problem using them and done properly will hold any TV. Tapcons will also work but not my first choice. Have hung a few hundred on masonry and never an issue.

Have used heavier plastic anchors with no issues.

I love these for attaching to concrete block or brick. Drill a hole and hammer it in. Done!

@Areith762 did this at his house IIRC. Might have some ideas.

The ones we use for work to anchor into concrete are RedHeads. They sell them at home depot.
You can use tapcon screws but you need a roto hammer or hammer drill to drill into masonry. Drill to size of tapcon, epoxy (optional), then screw in.
Home depot also has threaded sleeves you can buy. Drill hole, epoxy (optional), hammer in sleeve, thread bolt.
You do not want to go thru the brick.

3-1 level kit with add a leaf. 295/70/18r cooper max. Spider head light tail light and third brake light, tint, badges off, ladder racks, trd pro grill, color matched hood bulge, grab handle, coach builder +2, dv8 front bumper with winch, fender flares, bed cover....
I hung a 65” for a customer on a stone fireplace like 15’ in he air. Tapcon and a locktite glue that came in tube. Put 3 on top and 3 on bottom. With washers. I would go in the brick. Those other anchors seem nice should work that’s just not what I used. And it was terrifying hanging that thing that high up I wish I had pictures but I lost them on my old phone

I had my home builder add some horizontal studs above the stone fireplace for me to mount to. Made mounting my TV much easier. I believe I used 6" lag bolts through the mortar and into the studs. Kind of hard to see in pics with the TV mounted.

    Flux capacitor!
I would either do like @Alexstundra suggested, or I would find the location of my studs behind the brick and use longer lag bolts to fasten into the studs. The lag bolts would need to be 6”-8” long and this could be risky if you don’t know what behind the stone. Like hitting a possible electric wire or something you can’t see. Do you have any photos of the fireplace or brick?

I mounted a 50 in tv to a brick fireplace for my dad I predrilled and used the blue masonry screws. It worked great.

    Update

Tv was mounted this weekend. Used four 5/16" tapcons. Was worried they would crack the brick when tightening up but so far they've been alright. I wish I could post pics but I havent been able to figure that part out. Thanks all for the suggestions.
