Sounds like good parenting right there.

I was able to handle and work with the guns as needed. Taught they were a tool early on. Protection of livestock and hunting for food. Never shot something just to shoot it. It was food or for protection.

Today's youth seems to be lacking respect for others and responsibilities and consequences. They don't learn anything when there is no consequences of their actions.

cant help but wonder what kind of new gun law california will propose now. Hopefully they will focus more on veterans mental health instead.

Completely tragic and a loss of words for the victims and their families. Can't imagine the pain.

Such a sad scene. Officer was a hero, the radio traffic gave me goose bumps.

Gun laws don't do shit except hurt LAW ABIDING citizens. Big sign at the bank says "No Firearms", do you think a bank robber gives a fuck? Nope. But the retired Marine does, and more than likely leaves his shit in the car.

One law that MIGHT HELP and will only fuck the bad guys? Make it 5 years per gun minimum for straw purchasing (buying a gun for someone how can't possess it legally), and 5 years per gun minimum for firearms trafficking (knowingly buying guns from "easy to purchase" states and running them to NJ-NYC-MD).

I hate this thread has become more than just a memorial and we are getting deep in the weeds. But, this is my wheel house and can easily explain. A mandatory "gun collection" would take them out of folks hands who play/played by the rules. I put people in prison regularly for being FELONS POSSESSING FIREARMS. Wait, felons aren't supposed to have firearms. Correct, but they get them anyway. They steal them, they have their cousin buy them for themselves, or they buy them on the street. Baltimore (and Maryland) have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and just look how beautiful that city is. It's a violent crime infested shithole. That problem will get worse if you take firearms out of law abiding citizens hands.

The media drives the narrative. 100%. Never hear the good stories, only the bad thrown in our face for extended periods of time. Who else is in EVERY home in the USA, can say what they want and put thoughts in your head and you can't argue back or debate their bullshit? The "news". I've turned off all that crap and watch The Office reruns. When I saw Fake News CNN run the story about "full semi-automatic" I just couldn't believe the BULLSHIT the media gets away with, and nobody can debate it or call them out.

You won't be able to prevent tragedies like this from happening 100%, BUT, you can harden facilities and engage the threat faster with trained members, as well as deter with security counter-measures. Those two terrorists that tried to attack the event in Texas a few years ago were met with trained individuals, and countermeasures were in place. But that story didn't fit the narrative so it quickly went away.

Mental health is a mother, and I'm afraid some of those will always slip through the cracks.

Sorry folks for hijacking, but those that ask for mandatory gun collection or stricter gun laws need to hear the other side. Love ya'll, goodnight.

I don’t care if people have guns or not personally because I don’t live in an area with those issues yet. But if you take Australia for example. They did four things that had major outcomes for the better of their people.
    1. Ban on semi automatic rifles and shotguns
    2. Mandatory gun registration
    3. Requiring a reason to buy a gun
    4. New rules for storing guns

So that’s saying you can still have guns but just need an actual reason to own one and store them properly(which I’m assuming most people store them, but I know a lot of people who don’t. Don’t know why not) Either way it’s worked out for them. Since their mass shooting happened and they did those four things and a buy back program, THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING SINCE. Gun homicides down 59% and suicides by guns down 65%. Those are pretty big numbers. But again. It is what it is. Nothing is going to change so get used to the mass shootings and the suicides and try to live in a place where the gun laws suit your needs. I have had 3 people in my life kill themselves by a gun and my uncle was killed by a gun. I like shooting guns for fun at shooting ranges, but I don’t hunt and I live in a safe area so I don’t need one for protection as I have these For protection. Lol. With all politicians in the NRA’s pocket (both sides, I say that cause the left could have done something about this several times before, but hasn’t) nothing will change the second amendment so all the people who are worried about their guns, you shouldn’t be. People will get on tv after a shooting and after a week goes by if another shooting happens or not, the topic will just change and move on. People will send prayers and be nice to each other for a week, but that does nothing as well. It’s just the country we live in now a days cause this wasn’t that bad when I was in high school.
