Just took a trip to Tahoe this weekend. First time using my 4x4 in the snow. I got stuck and a Ram 2500 pulled me out . I always want wanted a Tundra and now I got it. Funny thing is wife wanted me to get a Ram then this happens. Any recommendations I should do first to not get stuck?? tires, lift, winch, don't drive in such deep snow lol?

Being a parking lot, looks more like packed ice. Once you sink in, you will need to dig out at that point.

But if you have to again, drop your tire PSI to about 20-25 and thread slowly.

    Welcome from Colorado

More aggressive tires would have helped the most. A lift won’t help you in that situation, your diffs and axles don’t get additional ground clearance. Like others have said, airing down and having a traction aid may have gotten you out on your own.Keep in mind, just because you have 4x4 doesn’t mean you can drive anywhere. ;)

Hahahaha that was some good stuff. Only downside I'll need 2x4s and straps when I go off road. Still hella cheaper than maxtrax. Surprised something like that isn't invented yet.

Yeah learning that the hard way ha like a dumbass. There wasn't any parking in the lot and thought I would just through it in 4x4 and park it in the snow. Like a dumbass that was ice and sunk in when I got back.

The only truck that might get out of that is a Raptor or a Power Wagon in stock form due to aggressive tires and lockers. Your up to the frame rails.

You just had to go over there didn’t you?

This reminds me of a Dodge driver that got impatient (and was being a total asshole about it) on a trail repair and thought he could go around. He was mistaken.

Sux I deleted the pic of him being stuck, but we made him wait until we were all done and bullshitted for a while. If he wouldn’t have had a young wife and infant child with him, I would have left his ass.

You can see that dumbass in the blue dodge in the background...

A couple additional things that others have not mentioned here yet... because we don’t have locking differentials it would be good to turn off traction control, be in 4LO, and gently brake while you accelerate. This with slightly deflated tires will work wonders. Watch some tundra specific YouTube off roading videos

Be honest I didn't know any better. First truck first time in snow with 4x4 I thought I would be able to get out. Lesson learned. But first on my list are some beefy tires and possibly a winch. I wasn't trying to be a dick like the guy your talking bout.

Also I see you mention lockers what's that mean because I did notice only three of my tires were spining why is that?

I wouldn’t go crazy on the tires man. Everyone that has been off-road, whether they want to admit it or not gets stuck.

I can’t count how many times I’ve needed a tug. Just how it goes.

E-tools are fine for digging a hole to shit in but a shovel with a four to five foot handle would be more appropriate for vehicle recovery. OP, some tires rated for Severe Snow Service would be helpful (Yokohama A/T, Grabber ATX, Nitto Exo Grappler among others).

For punching through ice or hard surfaces I don't think that I would want to use an e-tool. I also wouldn't feel like digging myself out for an hour. We drive full-size pickups with a bed, might as well throw a shovel in it.
