These are all with in a 2 weeks time. My tundra is a 2018 TRD Sport. Over the last month my unintentional breaking and crash detection have caused me nothing but time at the dealership. Just last week a member of the TOYOTA field rep came to olympia, wa to look at my truck and connect to the trucks so called black box. He found nothing but 5 hours later it went back to doing the same thing it did before. I caution anyone, because a few weeks ago a buddy and myself were going out and the truck for no reason locked up the breaks and steering wheel in the middle of I-5 going from 65mph to 35 mph almost instantly.

    Welcome to the party!!

I was one of the ones who experienced this. After a couple months, multiple trips to dealer, multiple phone calls to corporate, a new sensor, some recalibrating, software updates and whole lot of cuss words. They were able to get it resolved. Good luck with your issue. We already have a couple threads about it on this forum. Feel free to search pre collision

So you had the system turned off according to your pictures and it still applied the brakes? There is no brake warning in your center display as well? The truck cannot lock the steering, it is designed so you can still steer, and will stop braking if it detects enough steering input. The trailer error and PCS malfunction warnings can happen from low voltage, any issues with battery etc.? Without the brake warning there will be no info pertaining the event in the so called black box. How did you get the pictures during the event? I’m just curious, and the PCS malfunction is logged so hopefully your dealer will find the issue, would leave it there till they do.

There was a recall for the TSS re-calibration issued in October.
What exactly did the dealer perform? just diagnostics? reflashes?
    Below is the recall info

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 168,000 model-year 2018-19 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks and Sequoia SUVs and model-year 2019 Avalon sedans

The Problem: Due to inappropriate programming in the airbag electronic control unit, a fault may be erroneously detected during vehicle startup that would disable one or more of the sensors used to detect crashes. This could result in the side and curtain shield airbags and/or front and knee airbags not deploying as designed in a crash, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash. Regulatory requirements in certain markets also may not be met.

Yup it's a known issue to all..first time I've heard of that issue at the dealer type of problem. I had very similar issues minus the brakes locking up on me... The dealership"recalibrated" some stuff and truck seems to be functioning properly now

That is an air bag system recall, has nothing to do with the the TSS-P system.

It is a software programming recall.
There is a lot of technical detail left out of recall descriptions on purpose.
The recall does not define which sensors are impacted only that "one or more sensors used to detect crashes"
I believe the TSS systems would send feedback to ECM leading up to and during the event of a crash.
The airbag ECM is not a isolated system.
The engine ECM/ TSS/ Airbag ECM all communicate to each other.
When one ECU is reflashed, other modules may have to be reflashed as well to ensure input/output protocol is correct
You can disagree it has no impact, that is fine, I am throwing out bases to cover from a troubleshooting standpoint.
    Thanks,

That's exactly why I will not own a vehicle that can take over the controls from me. That's a good way to cause a crash.

Sorry to hear about those issues. Hopefully they make it right. I know driving up in NY slush, that the sensors get dirty and I get the light. I just drive through it until I get home and then clean it off. I have had the brake light come on but never had the car take over. I also turned that garbage off in the settings because if I want to tailgate someone I dont need a sensor telling me to back away

I have a 2019 and my PCS will work fine, but then says Please Clean Sensor..and then I get the PCS/OFF icon in the display. I'll look at my info center and the PCS says ON...but the icon is still lit up as OFF...I can go to lowes..and come out and it works fine on the way home.. the next time I get in the truck.. it will do the same thing.. I reached down and unplugged the sensor and plugged it back and it seems to be working fine now.

How I noticed it.. was in a PCS event (brake warning indicator in the dash display) and once I applied my brakes, the icon would come on PCS/OFF

I have a picture on my phone of the PCS showing to be ON but the icon on the dash shows to be OFF. I haven't had any problems since I reconnected the sensor but if it does it again, and I'm sure it will I will take it in to be repaired/replaced

I have a 2019 Limited 4wd with the same issue - I did have the "programming in the airbag electronic control unit" recall performed but it didn't help

will try your unplug replug - and post results

Update got ahold of toyota made my complaint but out of no where I'm having this issue. I towed a trailer on Sunday no problems and Tuesday night after getting off work this shit happens. Between October 2018 and January 2019 I've been to the dealership 9 times for the crash detection, unintentional braking, and now the trailer brake error.

Starting to think I lucked out jumping on a 2017 model. Hate you are having so many issues with the TSS. Keep us updated.

just because you hear about 10 people complain about an issue doesn't mean it is affecting every truck. For every 10 negative stories you read there are probably 100 people who don't have an issue. I've had my 2018 for just over a year with over 18000 miles on it and have never had a pre collision system problem. You will always read/hear more complaints/issues than you will people posting oh just wanted everyone to know my truck works great, no issues.

10 out of 100? I don't like those odds, especially when there is the possibility of your vehicle locking up on you on the interstate. I'm sure there are plenty with issues who aren't a member of the forum also. Glad you aren't having any issues!
