I'm too stingy to buy aftermarket wheels but I want to vomit :puke: when I look at my OEMs.Has anyone had any success in painting or Plasti Dip on their stock wheels? Pics of your wheels would be great.Thanks.

I've plastidipped and bed lined wheels.

Plasti holds up great. Bed liner holds up better. Both look good.

I used a can of plasti per wheel, lots of light coats. Bed liner, 2 cans did all 4 wheels.

If you're going to bedline, I've only ever had good luck with Rustoleum. None of the other brands out of a spray can ever really harden.

Use index cards or playing cards around each wheel. Simpler, more accurate, and faster than masking off the tire. Spray some armor all on what's remaining of the tires if you're really concerned about overspray.

Thanks for the info.I will most likely be doing Plastidip since it can be peeled off if I get tired of the look.

IMHO gunmetal plasti dip would look good on that white truck.

Linex is a great option but with the Plasti Dip I can just peel it off if I want to change colors or get sick of it.

I asked about getting Line-X on my wheels before at a shop. They said they wouldn't do it there because the weight of it would make balancing difficult.

I plasti-dipped some wheels on my old chevy a while back....it holds up awesome. and like you said, if you don't like it, you just peel it off. I mainly did it because the wheels were pitted really bad and the chrome was in bad shape. It fills imperfections pretty good and you don't really need to prep it that good. It is really easy. I would do it again if I didn't just buy new wheels.

You can find the dip cheaper but dipyourcar.com has some helpful ideas and videos.

I plasti dipped mine and added the gloss. Very happy with what I paid. Key to a successful dip is the same as all paint, clean, then clean again before painting and be sure it’s dry. O and clean them first.

Another possible solution is swapping out your wheels with painted ones. I liked the OEM wheels but wanted black. Swapped out with a shop and paid $400. A lot less than buying new wheels, for now.

Have had alot of good results using Duplicolor wheel coating. Clean/degrease your wheels really good, scuff em up with scotchbrite pads and spray em. Finish with glossy or matte clear coat.
