    I've been there before.
When I was pairing up names for the secret santa, my daughter was picking the names. I started cracking up at a few pairings and she looked at me like I was insane

I just started on this slab. A project for my house....something I don’t often get time to do! It’s a walnut slab, colors are really cool. Spraying sealer today. Going to be a coffee table. D261EEFD-295B-4255-99F5-A72321FEDDE8.jpg

I made our dining table a couple of years ago. I used barn wood from IA for the top and skirt, and the legs are beams that were from my grandparent's barn that was torn down 10 years ago. It had mortise and tenon joints that used pegs. Tried to keep some of the character. Was my first piece of daily use furniture, so, not perfect, but my wife loves it. I built 2 leaves that extend it from 4' to 7' for larger gatherings. I have some improvements I'd like to make, but, they aren't priority. Oh, and I used some leftover wood and beams for a bench.

Lot's of other beautiful projects on this thread!

Here's a link to full photo thread: https://goo.gl/photos/qSeNetSQUujzRuph8

Otherwise, here are just a few progress and finished photos.

    Cheers!

You are correct, heat is the key to getting the bubbles out. Bubbles from mixing is unavoidable, but you can use a torch or heat gun to get the epoxy less viscous which allows the bubbles to rise and pop. Have to be careful how close you get though

Lol - no, that’s my sister!
My daughter is the young one (10) and my son who hates pictures (6)
My mom is in the very back. We’re missing some Fam (stepdad at beach with sick Gma)

Lmfao. Oops. Well she looks like a college student that brought her BF home from the holidays.

It’s a good thing she looks young. Pay my complements to your sister. I knew she was related. Lol

I’m going back to the corner with my glue and crayons.

She’s 31, her BF is a few years younger than her though lol!
And she doesn’t have kids, which explains why she has a lot less wrinkles than she should :D

Ive made a couple of tables.. but none that were full on wood. This is the most recent table I've made.. but a desk I made for a huge Alabama fan is what sort of sparked the table top design. (Ill include pics of the desk in another post) The family wanted a wood burned epoxy top table with matching benches and chairs with their last name in the bench (Wife wanted farmhouse style while husband wanted simple industrial so this is hat I came up with). The table legs bolt on for easy moving. Was my first Dining table and 2nd piece of furniture all together behind the desk. I made the table and first bench a little over a year ago before a shoulder surgery.. Ended up traveling to where they're stationed at recently so I finished up the set with the second bench and set of chairs! We had a little extra material left over so I threw together a little entryway table that matches.

Holy shit!!!! You are Fing talented! That looks amazing. I can’t imagine how much time you have wrapped up in that. Nice work!

Eta - we finally swapped out our chairs and did the same matching bar stools for the island behind the table. We like the charcoal color better than white for chairs.

Thank you sir! I love your slab table and cant wait to do some work with one of those!
Time wise I probably have about 100 hours into the whole set if I had to guess.. everything is hand cut, drilled, marked and made up on the fly. I rarely make drawings and if I do its just for measurement reference..

Appreciate that buddy! Ive been very fortunate enough to have clients who trust my judgement and my style when it comes to building and I really appreciate that, I pour every ounce of heart and soul into everything I make.. I like to get a few basic ideas of what youre interested in no matter what im making and incorporate as much as possible to make it uniquely yours.
    Thank you Ronald!

Here are a few pics of the Alabama desk I did.. So my good friend whos a huge Bama fan has this old chevy hes been working on rebuilding with his dad and its got a wood bed in it and I thought I could make the top look like a rustic or newly finished wood bed with the metal slats bolting the planks together etc then cover with epoxy. (he was going to put Bama memorabilia in it but decided against it, too much to choose from). I don't have a lot of pics from this build anymore but it also bolts together and has internal access for running wires through the tube work. the most notable feature is the backlit legs that give it a cool touch.. He has a photography business and at some point when he gets his studio going we intend to make assign with his business name that will go on the side of the desk facing the wall that would also be backlit. Its also quite large for a desk at 6ft long, 3ft tall and 3 ft in depth

Making sawdust is one of my favorite hobbies! I’m nowhere near this good but a man can dream!

The torch takes out the sanding and dull places. It just takes a flash and presto it is all clear and shines again. Don’t ask me the science behind it, it just is. The only reason I know I used to help out a guy that had an acrylic/plastics shop and we use to make and glue all sorts of things. Sanding and router bigger pieces and then flash them with the torch to make em look purdy.
