Is this a good price for this 2018?

    Hi,

A quick question for you guys. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a 2018 Tundra and was wondering if this seems to be a decent deal in your opinion. I'm in Alaska, so I'm stuck with the shipping cost either way. The shipping would balance out should I buy a car in the lower 48 when you consider airline tickets, gas and hotels. I was pushing for a few extras and was able to swing $300 worth out of them. The salesman claimed the truck at its negotiated price was near employee cost.

    Year: 2018
    Model: Limited Crewmax w/TRD package
    MSRP: $49,884
    Discount + rebate: $4,200
    Total cost: $45,684

    Thank you,

    Welcome from NY.

I think you can get a better price than that since the 2019's are out already.

Well considering that Toyota is offering $3,000 factory rebate, means that the dealership is only giving you an additional $1,200 discount. Doesn't seem like a good deal, but factoring in your location might make this a decent deal. For comparison, I got $9,000 off my TRD sport in California.

    Hi Bluecarguy,
I picked up my 2017 Limited Crewmax w/TRD package for about $43,400 just before the 2018 models came out if that helps you any. My MSRP was right in line with your at just shy of $50K. I think you can probably get another $2K or so off if they really want to make a deal.

I’m going to play ball a bit more with them. Found the same truck in Blazing blue in the lower 48 for $44K, so that will hopefully work the sale in my favor.
I could drive it up for $700 or pay 2-3K to ship it.

I really didn’t haggle much at all for my Limited Crewmax TRD and it was $44k and change in July. Had predator steps and a spray in bedliner. Seems like the same truck should be under $42k now that the ‘19s are out. But I don’t put a ton of value in being the guy who got the lowest price on any truck on the lot. I got a good price on exactly the truck I wanted - my perfect combo of color and features. If your dream truck is $45k, jump on it. If you’re settling on color or features, shop around some more.

I'd settle for nothing less than 9k south of MSRP on a 2018...or walk. What's the build date on that truck? I'd bet it's been sitting for MONTHS

Slight update for you guys. Ive followed the buying a Tundra steps on the forum and now have started the Tundra Hunger Games. At the moment I have three matched at $42K including the 3K rebate for a 2018 Limited TRD. Waiting to see what the remaining dealerships get back to me with. One claimed they are now $1,200 below invoice...
Worth noting these dealerships are in the lower 48, so hopefully that will aid in driving the price down.
