If you do get it they will blame that on the issue

Nope, not at all. Also since the update, when I get to 1/4 tank, I notice it says “refuel” or something like that. Never had that before the update. Now Pre Collision comes on and off. Cant make up its mind!!

I wasnt going to post until I confirm so that I could possibly help others out here but...I went into the Pre Collision menu and turned it off and then turned it back on. I did this 3 times and for the rest of my driving tonight, the light hasnt come on at all. I will see what happens the next time I start up my truck and drive and if no issue, I guess thats what fixed it. I work with Crestron Control systems and sometimes I need to go into a tech page to turn a source off and back on in order for it to respond to commands so, I will see if this was a remedy and let you know.

My 2019 had the issue when I drove it home fromthe dealership. They replaced the precollision sensor. And they gave me a camry to drive ....

OK, so this happened to me once right after I had my airbag recall done as well. The recall was done on 10/16 and it happened about a week later. I turned my truck off and back on and it hasn't happened since (knock on wood). It gave me the "front camera unavailable" warning or something like that. I didn't want to say anything to jinx myself, but maybe it was somehow linked to the recall...

Well since I did the “turn on, turn off 3 times” experiment, it was fine the whole night driving. Hasnt come on once and then as im parking for the night, it came on and was like damn!!!!....Shut the truck off and then the next day up until today driving, hasnt come back on. Weird crap but hope this is the end of the dilema.

So I knew I'd jinx myself if I mentioned it on here, and of course it just happened again today. Got the "front camera unavailable" warning, then got the PCS "off" light in my dash. It stayed on for about a minute and then just went off on its own without me even turning off the truck.

Mine was going off on its own without shutting off the truck. I should have been more detailed about that. My apologies. Im not sure what you mean by “front camera unavailble” warning. I never got that. Only the light as in your pic. But so far mine has not come on again. As a matter of fact just yesterday I was curious to see if it was even working at all so I purpously didnt slow down coming up behind a truck at a light and was getting closer and closer and im like ummmm...hello?? and then the “brake” warning came on...lol!! Try shutting off the Pre Collision and turning it back on in the settings and see if that helps.

Thanks for the info, I'll try turning PCS off and back on. The "front camera unavailable" warning came up in the center info display area, then disappeared after a few seconds before I could take a pic.

You’re welcome. Yeah, I never got that warning in the center display area. The little yellow light is all I got then it would dissapear on its own and then re-appear and then gone. Turn yours off and on a couple of times in a row and hope for the best.

Calling tomorrow to see if this reprogram is what mine needs. All the lights are on, 4wd, cruise, trac control, abs,pre collision, all inoperable. I have basically got a huge Camry not a tundra as far as snowy travel is concerned.

2018 CrewMax, I was running into the full gambit of problems mentioned in this thread right off the lot I went into the dealership at 400 miles and they checked everything out. According to the service Dept some of the calibration was off a bit during the diagnostics and they adjusted settings and sent me home. I was having multiple PCS issues on the way to the dealership even a brake now alert which was a new one. None on the way home so I was hoping it was corrected. This dealership had never heard of this problem nor had anyone came in with these issues (according to service rep) They also did the SRS airbag update (Recall just announced by Toyota - purely software) while I was there as well.

Update - Truck was behaving well since the dealership visit at 400 miles but I'm at 2,400 now and have recently started experiencing the "Brake Now" klaxon go off randomly with nothing in front of me. It hasn't applied the brakes or anything extreme but it does startle me as intended and pisses me the F off after my heart rate slows down that a brand new truck is having all these issues. I guess I will be taking it back to the dealer if nothing else but for documentation. I've also had the head unit completely shutdown and reboot on me several times now - really Toyota.

Call back from Service manager this morning after I got up at 5 and drove it the 70 miles back to the dealership. "a broken wire near the left front wheel, may have been a rodent or something". He says damage is not under warranty and it will cost $330 to repair.

Next call was to the sales guy of course. His response was "BS this isn't going to cost you a thing".

Odd, a rodent could take it upon itself to climb up somehow under the truck parked on my concrete driveway and chew only that one wire..

Sounds like the sales manager is at least trying.

I'm starting to think that this PCS is just a bunch of crap. A gimmick. Mine has gone off when I was like 100 feet from the car in front of me and I wasn't even going fast. All the times it has gone off, my brakes were never applied automatically. When I did my test last week (as stated in my previous post) to see if the "brake" light was working, I was coming up to a truck stopped at a light like around 40 MPH and when I was getting real close, I mean close, to the back of the truck, I was like ummmmmm hello???....and then the brake light finally came on and no brakes were applied, I had to brake hard to avoid hitting the truck.

Your dash looks like a Christmas tree eh? Hope everything works out for you and the so called rodent..lol!! It's just a shame how one could bring their car / truck to a stealership for a repair or a recall and the car / truck is worse than what it was before it was brought in. Happened to me. Brought my truck in for the air bag recall and after that, been getting the PCS off light sporadically. Hasnt come on these past few days but still.

Service manager called back to notify me that the Sales Department budget is going to pay for the "damage".

Hopefully that will actually be the fix, but I am definitely preparing myself for a longer journey on this one. They still have my 2016 I traded in, as well as another 2016 in the same color as my 18.. tempted to see how much of a bad deal it would be to just go back to the pre-TSS model year.

Its not a gimmick and its not really "new technology". I've seen other members mention the same but my wife has a Lexus GS 350 (Toyota Corporation) with all the doo dads and it works flawlessly. I mean you can just tell that car is quality when you drive it and know it will operate as advertised which leads me to believe Toyota cheeped out somewhere in this TSS process. I get the difference between the two brands but with safety stuff like this you would figure...

the "BRAKE" pre collision just happened to me not once, but TWICE last night while I was driving. I believe it happened on a section of the road where it bent to the right then then to the left (like an reversed S curved road), but on the right side of the road there were cars parked. I was going 40+ on a 35mph road.. perhaps it was scanning the "parked" cars and think I was going too fast and was going to hit them?? I don't know.

Yeah I hear you on that. I dont even really need the PCS. Could care less about it. I think its mainly for those who like to text and drive and be irresponsible behind the wheel. I do like the BSM and the RCTA though.

Just dropped mine back off at dealership today to get the break alert warning checked out again and the new problem of my head unit rebooting randomly when I'm making a bluetooth call. Definitely not impressed with the electronics on the Tundra and now basically documenting issues. I will say if they can't get these electronic issue worked out in short order I will be trading it in soon.

Wow that sucks!!...I hope for the best for you. I havnt experienced any of those issues. Im actually thinking of trading mine in for a Highlander or maybe going back to a 4Runner...Cant take the gas guzzler anymore. Dropping a $100.00 every 2 weeks with only 146 miles on a full tank. Avg. MPG 4.6..wanna buy mine?..LOL!!

4.6 mpg? I would have your dealer check that out, that's the lowest mileage I've ever heard of on a stock Tundra. Sounds like you may have another issue.

In all honesty, all trucks guzzle gas... Should've thought of that first! LOL. My 16 Chevy Silverado gets about 14-15MPG in city driving to work.. the Tundra gets 12-13MPG.. big deal.

Hwy it Chevy's computer says 21, but manually calculating it shows 20. Compare that to Toyota, when manually calculating to about 17 (the computer is pretty accurate on the Toyota - at least more accurate not over inflatted #'s).. it's not that much difference. I did a spreadsheet of the difference in cost alone, in 12,000 miles it will have cost me $370-$400 bucks more only. That's like 1+ yr driving for me.

    Image 107.jpg

I doubt you're getting 4.6MPG.. big fat lie! lol Prove it. ;)

I did know trucks guzzle gas silly man..lol!!..I had a 2017 Ram that I traded in for my Tundra. The Ram got shitty gas milage too. Its true that im getting 4.6 (just noticed it tonight) and I actually baby the gas. I can take a pic tomorrow showing the MPG. I usually average 7.6 but for some reason, it showed 4.6 before. It would be nice if it wasnt due to actual city driving and that the dealer can do something about it but when I took my Ram in for the low MPG, they were blaming it on my driving habits and I told the idiots that I baby the damn thing. Nothing they could do about it. Thing is I dont do any highway driving at all. Its all city and the fastest I go around town is about 45 mph and thats only a short stretch till the next light. Its all stop and go. I live in New Jersey, right across the Hudson River from Manhattan and nothing but traffic all day, everyday. I bought my truck in Jan. 2018 and I havnt even got a chance to open it up on a highway yet so maybe thats the reason why. I work in Manhattan so I take mass transit to work during the week so my truck is parked all week during the day.

NO LONGER HAVE A TUNDRA... Waiting
That truck is abusing you! Get it checked out, isn't it under factory warranty? Worse i get is 12mpg on short 5-6 mile trips, i only drive 7.5 miles to work.. I get about 14 on warmer days, 12.5-13 on cold mornings.

New here. Fist post. Just got a 2019 Tundra about 1 week ago. I have 330 miles on it and the orange Pre-Collision light came on. When I tried using the cruise-control it said that it is unavailable to clean the sensor. Cleaned the toyota logo and it worked 'till next day. It's still clean (nice and shiny) and the light just came back on again. No ice/snow/rain etc. just a normal day 55deg F outside. I will definitely go back to the dealer, I just hope they are not going to give me crap.
