    I am possibly purchasing a used Tundra and the button for the folding mirrors doesn't work. They are trailer mirrors that manually extend out. Is there a easy way to see if they were an addition to the truck after original purchase and may not be auto folding?

    Would it help if i had pictures of the mirrors themselves? also, i can fold them manually, i don't know if that makes a difference whether they are auto or not..

    Welcome Scott.

    They will never fold in. Only the regular non-towing mirrors power fold in.
    Once the previous owner swapped to tow mirrors, the vehicle lost that function.

    Power folding mirrors were on platinum trim levels if I remember correctly....maybe limited. Some people have tried to get power folding mirrors in lower trim packages.

    If you have the tow mirrors that manually extend out, you don’t have the foldable mirrors.

    Take a pic if you can.

    The 1794 would have came with power folding mirrors. Somebody removed those and replaced with manually extending towing mirrors. You can’t have both features...sort of...if you want both features, buy a set of power folding mirrors (take-offs) and add those mirror extenders which fasten to your existing mirrors for towing and you’ll be set. Etrailer.com sells them...

    Yes toyota has power folding tow mirrors, they are $700+ and you will loose blind spot monitoring. Toyota does not make a tow mirror with BSM, so those are likely A1auto or other non-oem mirrors. I have a 1794 as well and i have not bought tow mirrors because i would have to sacrifice something.

    @Jrharvey02 covered it.

    Just noticed you're in Dumas, TX. Man that’s Ford and GM territory. Lol

    Been there a lot, have a military buddy there, races altered.

    I'm not sure why you guys are saying there are no power folding, manual extending tow mirrors. I have them on my Platinum. I removed the factory power fold mirrors, added the power fold tow mirrors, and now have power folding tow mirrors.

    My guess is that the previous owner didn't want to shell out the $$ for power folding tow mirrors and went with regular tow mirrors instead.

    Do these still retain the heated defrost function of the OEM mirrors too?

    Small world. Shane (Smokey) is a good friend of mine from Bad Company race team. I may have met Joe once. He’s the one with a built up Duramax right? They all run freightliners now anyway.

    My PF tow mirrors have heat, memory, and turn signal. They are not OEM. OEM are $800 vs $350 for aftermarket. You can now get them with BSM aftermarket but not OEM. You lose auto dim, puddle lights, and BSM (if you go OEM). They also have side markers but I think they only work on SR5s. Tons of threads out there about these. I’ll take a pic if I think about it but they literally look the same. Not sure how you would tell the difference visually.
