Unrealistic for most people though, unfortunately.

I remember driving in the 80’s and all you seen were regular cab trucks for the most part in Montana. Trucks were for work only. The caddy was for cruising. lol

Thanks for the advice! I recently pulled a friend’s 24” but GVW at 8500 with distribution hitch and 4pt sway. Drove around town and on freeway a bit (urgh the gas mileage reality check :eek2:). No problems what so ever, just a much more attentive driver than with my small trailer. The big HOWEVER was that the TH was dry and none of the toys were loaded.

So yeah I get it, my temptations may certainly be above my truck’s reality :lalala:

Single cab wasnt an option with 2x toddlers still in car seats :hattip:.

So glad I found and joined this forum, hoping to get some great info and share some of my experiences along the way.

Without the elevation power losses, you might be a hell of a lot better than I was. At 10500’, any motor is going to be breathing heavy.

    Here was my setup:

    2875F8A2-6477-48CC-B42E-497C0418C316.jpg

The front could load 1 ATV or 1000 lbs.

    Now:

    AEB61E37-C141-468A-BBA2-ECD91C94383E.jpg

It’s all about location, location, location. The camper is the lightest thing I tow, so that also made the difference in deciding on going back to a diesel.

Great setup you have there. I hear ya, the elevation (sea level) definitely is in my favor. I honestly couldnt justify going with a diesel truck because I didnt have anything to justify the need (all i have is the trailer and 2x quads). So i upgraded my 06’Taco to 17’Tundra.

Most traveling will be in CA (mostly Southern and occasional Northern) and AZ. This will be my first time owning a TH/travel trailer so all input and advice is def appreciated!

Are you running bags? Im looking at the Firestone RideRite and curious what others have on their rigs.

I'm not yet I have a spring helper right now. I'm going to be adding a toytec lift set at 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the rear. I'll be adding the progressive AAL to the rear along with the spring helper.

All a matter of moving that machine forward or back a few inches!! Lol. Wanted to squat, but not too much!!

Unlike my boat (don’t even feel that bad there) or towing the car a few times (noticeable, but not aggressive), that little machine let me know it was back there

Nice trailer. I'm torn between single vs double axle. What I really want is a small bunkhouse single axle that can carry 1000lbs of cargo.

Posted here earlier when I started towing this 5000 pound trailer with the Tundra. Towed over 20,000 miles since with as high as 720 miles in a day, fine towing rig!
