I recently purchased a 2018 Tundra Limited TRD 4x4. I came home and joined this forum. I find it funny that most of the complaints and or negative things about the Tundra are lack of new fancy touch screens and lack of interior update design. Me personally I enjoy the simplicity of the tundra the technology within the truck are fine with me. I looked at Ram Ford and Chevy. But the problems that have plagued them with all the new tech that everyone wants turned me away. Ram has problems with the Hemi and it’s 4 cylinder mode. Chevy has had horrible oil consumption issues with its AFM system and ford with the V6 thing. Folks can have their fancy gauges and touch screen this and touch screen that I will stick with my full time 5.7 V8 and 4.30 gears.

All manufacturers have problems. Even Toyota.

Yes, true, but the odds are a lot better with Toyota.

I don't want or need fancy dials and gadgets. I prefer it simple. My 2018 Tundra is light years ahead of my 2012 Tacoma. You can touch the screen.

    Yep, 100%!
I’m not interested in the least to have any fancier technology. And while it’s true that all manufacturers have problems, it’s a statistically proven fact that Toyota has significantly LESS problems.

The only thing I miss from my sierra to my new tundra is how the heated seats worked. My old sierra you could choose between just having the back heated or the back and butt. I pretty much only used the back. I drive a lot for work. 18500km (11500 Miles) since I bought the truck August 31st 2018. Many hours a day in the truck I would use the back heat to help stop my back from getting sore, even in the middle of summer. In my Tundra I'm constantly turning it on and off as i get to hot because you cannot switch it to just heat the back. We drove a few 2018 sierras before buying the Tundra and almost got suckered in by the fancy new gadgets. Don't get me wrong I loved my old truck and I will never talk down a Sierra or a Silverado but i can tell already how much more solid built my new Tundra is.

I figured you would post up Consumer Reports. I'm not sure that I am convinced that they are unbiased in their approach. They only survey their members. Small part of the population.
Plus, I am "biased" (see what I did there?) by my own personal experience.

Plus, those pages don't show any "real" data. I wish that we could actually see real data on problems from the manufacturers themselves. But, they would never let that information out I imagine.

    Carry on....

All the "smart" technology is not there to make you any smarter, but the opposite and to control you better.

There’s no other product review publication that I am aware of that does not accept any advertising dollars. If there is one please direct me. Yeah, they only survey their members. But members include Chevy, ram, and ford owners. No one but members would take the hours required to fill out the surveys. I’ve done it twice in the last 30 years.
You’re the first I’ve run into in a long time that questioned the superior reliability of Toyota vehicles. They arguably fall short in some ways (mileage and technology, perhaps), but reliability is beyond question.

I've had a lot of arguments/discussions with people on this topic on this and another Tundra forum. People don't like it when I mention that the Tundra has problems.

The reason that I question the superior reliability is because of all "newer" trucks that I have owned, my Tundra has been one of the most problematic ones.

Now, the 4Runners I have owned - they have given me absolutely no problems. I have had two of them and they have been flawless.

Maybe it's because the Tundra is built in the states. :crapstorm:

Don't get me wrong, I still think that the Tundra is the best 1/2 ton on the market today. I just wish it had more payload and a longer bed on the CM.

I am by no means bashing the other 3 becuase I have owned them and enjoyed them. It’s just my humble opinion that Ford, Ram and Gm have leaned more towards luxury and less towards functionality of a truck. Which I understand the majority of people buying trucks are less likely to use it and just want a truck that drives like a car. I personally like simple things and like a truck that rides and drives like a truck with a few fancy things. All new trucks are nice and all have their issues. But I don’t prefer all the super fancy things or aluminum body trucks. And here this goes back to my original post I enjoy the fact Toyota hasn’t fancied up the Tundra but to each his own.

Don't forget that Platinums and 1794's have more than enough luxury for day to day. I love my 1794 and how comfortable it is with every gadget in there. I could care less for connectivity, and I even shut off the bluetooth as I go wired connection to my phone. Not getting zapped by "smart" technology when the side effects and long term effects aren't being looked in or researched. and I don't mean the faux science that are controlling most aspects of real research. Some say get money out of politics, but I will also to say to get money out of science also.

I love my 1794. Just enough luxury. All of those other electronic do-dads are distracting. As long as I can Bluetooth my iPhone and listen to tunes and audiobooks, I'm satisfied.

Luxury has now become functionality in a lot of peoples minds as far as trucks go. It seems that people don’t feel the truck is functional as a truck unless it has every gadget imaginable and sucks your di**.

I haven't heard about that last feature. Which company provides that? Does it come with a warranty?

:rofl::rofl: Probably going to be in the Tesla truck. It comes with a warranty as long as you can show all service receipts. Imagine being the tech who has to work on that one.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I imagine that there will be a lot of warranty denials due to "excessive use beyond design intent", coupled with addition of aftermarket parts which put extra stress on the system. HA!
