Hey everyone! i'm new here and am going nuts over my gas mileage. I bought 2017 Tundra, extended cab with 4.6L. My mileage is presently 13.1 mpg. I bought with the thought, sticker, that i would get 15/18. I've already had to put new tires and brakes and battery on in my first year(they put cheap materials on). I have driven 29000 in first year due to my business. When i bought new battery my mileage went up to 19, but slowly dwindled down. This past week it has lost .1 mile per day. Any input into why. The mileage bar says i average like 15-20 but its gettin insane for me cuz i'm only getting 250 miles per tank now and i pay California prices. Please advise

Buy a truck, than come to forums to complain about MPG. I was getting 11mpg and now getting 10mpg after wheels/tires, and leveling. I hate it that it's lower mpg than most on here but I knew what I was getting myself that it would be around there after looking on here. Should have done your research before buying the truck, not now. And HAHA to believing the sticker. The testing is done under ideal conditions, and NOT in real life driving conditions like daily driving. Are you hauling anything, since it is for business?

When you say highway is the same, are you resetting the mpg counter, as it can't be the same. No way highway will match city.

Welcome Larry! Unfortunately Tundras has never been known for good gas mileage. What they are known for is reliability, holding there resale value and envy from other truck owners. There lots of articles on the forum about this subject. My two favorite license plates on a tundra are HA MPG & WAT MPG.

I posted my stats on another thread regarding this topic: 4.6L, 20" wheels, no lift, 91octane, light foot Daily Driving, about 25 mile round trip daily split between highway and city with metro stop and go traffic...constantly average 16.5 - 17 mpg

Bottom line is (assuming you don't have some extreme lift/tire combo) with the gearing setup and smaller displacement of the 4.6s you shouldn't be that low in the MPGs unless your driving like a maniac or towing/hauling heavy loads. IMO sounds like your onboard computer could be off especially with what you said about your battery

Howdy from DFW and I have heard that keeping your Tundra in the garage and using a Corolla 90% of the time helps. I drive a '13 Honda Pilot for work and the wife and I are 100% satisfied with our Tundra's 15.7 mpg.
