We got about 7in of snow where I live, so I drove to work in 4 wheel high. I noticed a slight shudder when backing up into the parking spot. Is this slight to moderate shudder normal while in 4wheel high while backing up (2018 crewmax) ?

Where was the shudder feeling coming from ? Did you have your steering turned close to full lock ?

yeah the wheel was turned not sure about full lock though. Now that I think about it, I used reverse earlier in a straight line and no shudder.

If your in 4wd and turn the steering to full lock or close, yes it is normal. Try sweeping turns if possible and not hard turns.

It’s because you were turning. As long as the ground is slippery it should not be an issue. When I off road and I am using 4 x 4, I will turn off 4 x 4 if I have to make a very tight turns and 4 x 4 is unnecessary.

I have the exact same issue my truck is brand new 2000 miles and exact same circumstances
One of the guys here said just put it into 2WD just for the tight turns or parking spots
It’s normal from what I hear which is a relief to me too

This is what happens when you turn full lock in 4WD and off-roading in technical terrain like this guy did.

What a dope. I just skipped to the end when it happened. I don't know how you can know enough to know what any of those parts are called, but not know you shouldn't be in 4WD driving on terrain like that.

I would think you want to be in four-wheel-drive for the terrain he was on, just need to turn it off when turning. No?

What I saw in that video, there was absolutely no need for 4WD coming down that hill, turn or no turn.

So this is continuing to happen in 4HI on the slightest of slow turns (1-8pmh). I'm turning the steering wheel one full rotation so not even close to full lock. Still normal?

If your in dirt, snow or wet conditions I don’t think this is normal. Maybe it would bind on a dry road with 1 full turn of the wheel.

Full disclosure, I AM NOT A MECHANIC.

Other memebers will have insight as well. Your truck is brand and under warranty, bring it to the dealer if you have any doubts.

On what kind of surface? Dry pavement? Wouldn't surprise me at all. Wet pavement? Still wouldn't surprise me.

Wet pavement. Driving through the neighborhood (up to 15mph). I'm asking since this is my first Tundra. However this didn't happen on my 03' 4WD Sequoia or 00' 4WD 4-Runner.
