    Hey everybody,
Decided to try and use Pandora on my 2017 Tundra.
Currently have a working Pandora account on an iPhone.
I am aware of the recent update that removed Pandora and something else from the Entune app.
I don't have the Entune app. so I never did the update. I assume that the only way the update automatically happens is if you have a registered Entune app. in number entry etc., etc.

So I'm trying to use Pandora and it doesn't work. I keep getting a "tether error" and even though I get the program up, I cant search or add stations nothing happens it keeps on searching.
I have a data plan and have tried with my iPhone app on and running.
My questions are, can I still make use of Pandora because I still have it, will it only work with the Entune app. which means that when I register the app. I will most likely have to update and then lose Pandora.
I have attached some screen shots of what I'm seeing on the HU.
The screen says if I am having issues to call Toyota.
Before I do, I would appreciate any tips or advice as what to do.
    Thanks!

I think you can only stream pandora through the app on your phone now. So on your head unit, select BlueTooth, and just have Pandora open and playing on your phone.

Yep, Toyota Customer Service just confirmed this.
This is terrible and I was mislead!
I bought my Tundra because it had Pandora lol!

Wow, not only do I get penalized for not having a 2019 model, just an expensive 2017 truck that isn't equipped with Apple Car Play, but I lose the basic Pandora to boot??

I'm sorry but using my phone app with no steering wheel controls not only is dumb-but very dangerous to those of us that have to squint at their phones in order to change a song or station!

What was Toyota thinking! Because of 3rd. party app developers? They had to remove one of the most common and used app in any car new or old?
Why is it still working on my 2017 Chevy Equinox? What's the difference?

Boo, bad bad move Toyota (and so-called 3rd. party developers)

    Apple and oranges.

I have both. I use Pandora for music exploration and stations that I have curated over the years.

Set playlists and albums I use Spotify.

I had problems with my Spotify account for years and couldn't get logged back in. So if I would have seen your post 5 months ago I would have disagreed. After one valiant final effort I was able to recover my Spotify and could not agree more, Spotify is my go to music source.

I just used pandora this morning. It syncs with your phone where the steering wheel controls still manages the songs/station/etc

My phone and steering wheel controls work with all apps. Spotify, Pandora, Amazon music or just streaming from phone memory. But I do use android thank god.

The apps on the Entune system sound terrible anyway (even besides the sound system being bad in general). Just stream via your favorite app via Bluetooth, then you'll be able to use whatever you want and have better sound quality while you're at it. I know the entertainment system in our trucks is embarrassing... Even the 2019s didn't get the upgraded Entune or CarPlay, really Toyota??

Are you talking about the Pandora app in the head unit? Or through your phone.

    Yea I am.
50's - 90's Rock, news and some entertainment stuff.
I just started using Pandora and I think it's pretty cool. I like the way that I can chose an older artist like Lightning Hopkins and all those other artists from the same era and genre in the station.

So I tried using the Pandora app on my phone through Bluetooth in the truck.
Yes I was able to move through the next songs using the steering wheel buttons but I was not able to access my other stations.

Brandisher, how do you access your other Pandora stations from the steering wheel if you are using your app from your phone?

I meant using the Bluetooth to change songs. I swear I was able to change stations the other day.

I’ll look into it tomorrow when I play around the unit as I warm up the truck.

I know what you mean, I use Spotify for that very reason. The lack of a proper interface through the head unit means I pretty much stick to XM while in the truck. At least it’s better than AM/FM...
it’s really a shame that they couldn’t give us Apple Car Play or something similar.

Now that pandora is gone I'm gonna try out the iheartradio and slacker radio apps. I like being able to control via the headunit as my phone stays in my pocket when I drive.

I just use Pandora on my phone, and connect to my 2018 Tundra's audio system over bluetooth. Works fine. From what I've read of the Entune App, it's not worth the download. By and large, I am quite disappointed with the Tundra's entertainment center and hope that someone comes along some day with a suitable replacement that's not $5000.
