Bought this truck ('07 Crewmax with 54,680 miles) last Monday in Upstate South Carolina from a dealership after trading in a piece of garbage 2006 Subaru Forester. I'm extremely glad to have something comfortable to drive finally since I'm 6'-6" and 230 lbs., so I'm glad to not need to coil up in anything anymore.

Looking forward to a long partnership with it after also having a 2000 Solara SLE Convertible that was awesome for 167,000 miles.

    2008 with 5.7.
185,000 miles, no major issues. Regular maintenance stuff.
But did get frame recall, but not enough rust for replacement. They are going to sandblast and coat frame (other option of recall).

I bought it used with 270K on it, and zero service records... since I have owned it, I have replaced the fuel pump, drive shaft, and the rear transmission seal.

I'd like to add I recently bought my 2013 tundra 4x4 with the 4.6 with 81k on the clock. I hve 84k on it now nd I have no complaints. Comfortable ride. Shifts well. Plenty of power (yes I drove the 5.7) dont need it. I worked for a shop/dealer that had this one and got cheap.

There is nothing wrong with the 4.6, great engines.

No timing belt to mess with either.

After being around in the forums people seem to shame the 4.6. And I almost regret it but.. anyway I posted a forum about the 4.6 and 35s and loss of 6th gear and mpg and upgrades etc etc if any 4.6 guys wanna chim in it would be awesome. I wanna talk about everything from headlight, exhaust, and said things above. Click my name and see my only thread I started and let's talk!

Hello, I am new to Tundras.com and found this discussion interesting. I am looking to purchase a tundra 2007-2010 with 100k-200k miles just because of the affordability. What are some questions that I would need to ask a seller. I would need to worry about the timing belt? What are some issues that I need to be aware of. The reason I am looking to purchase a tundra is longevity. I here from discussions like this people are having less issue with tundras than the others.

If it is the 4.7l, you will need to ask about the timing belt. They are recommended every 90k miles along with the water pump. I believe the 4.7l was offered through 09, and the 4.6l might have started in 2010, but has the timing chain like the 5.7.

The smaller engines are plenty powerful for most uses and are very good, so if it has been well maintained I wouldn’t hesitate depending what you will use it for.

Since this just happened to me again, I would ask if the aip system has been replaced. Toyota extended the warranty to cover 10 years or 150k miles. I would recommend looking at the bypass kits either way because mine was fixed under warranty and I just had the same issue again a couple weeks ago. You will find it is a very expensive, temporary fix...my “repair” lasted 3 years....

Ask all the pertinent questions that you can think of, but I have found that an extended test drive on different road surfaces with the stereo turned off is a better way to get a clear picture of what's what. That, and a visit to a shop that will allow you to inspect the underside while it's up on the lift... bring a flashlight.

I feel like over 200k Miles is high mileage. Under that I don’t worry about it

If you are thinking of buying used then get the Car Fax Report. With it you can see where the truck has spent it's life. If you are in Georgia you are not going to want a truck that spent it's life in New York. Usually there's information if you look closely. For example if that New York Truck has had the oil changed in Arizona every winter then chances are the owner spent winters in the south away from all the salt. You can also check to see how often the oil was changed. Not all garages do it but enough enter the data. With it you can tell how close the oil got changed to when it was due. But you have to make assumptions. If the oil was changed every 7500 miles then it's likely the owner was using synthetic and didn't want to go a full 10k. If it was 5k some times and other times 8k then chances are it wasn't synthetic and the owner wasn't diligent about doing it. If they had work done at a Toyota dealership they often log what was done.

I bought my 2008 tundra SR5 with 128,000 miles on it.
At 138,000 I lost my mind and had a Supercharger installed on it.

The Supercharger just hit the 10K mark since the Install and she still drives like a Beast.
The only thing I have gone through are 3 sets of Tires & Hundreds of gallons of 91-93 Octane Fuel.

I have a 2007 Tundra purchased last winter. Currently at 338k miles. I have only put about 5k of those miles on it so far. Great solid truck. I am currently doing rear wheels bearings.

Yes I feel it will last a long time. Rear wheel bearings are a little labor intensive but I ended up making a press tool on my mill which worked out great. Maintenance goes along way.

How many miles now? Mine has 271,000 but I have only owned it for a month so I'm curious how high can these go with the 5.7

Bought my 2007 5.7 4x4 in Aug of 2017 with 188,xxx on it. Sitting at 233,xxx currently and here's what I've done in the last 4 months

    - New radiator at 225k mi
    - New rear pads & rotors at 226k
    - Bypassed the AIP system at 227k with the Hewitt kit. This failure caused the dash to light up like a Xmas tree and derate/limp mode (gained just at 1.5MPGs)
    - New starter at 232k
    - New front pads at 232k

Both radiator and starter were the originals, to me that's impressive.

I got lucky found Local owned 2015 with 35000 at a dealership in Georgia seems the owner trades in every 3 years and live 5 miles from dealership. I found some paperwork with his address and saw he lived close by to dealership. Carfax showed serviced every 3000 miles at dealership. Looks like he averaged 9000 miles a year till trade in. Saw alot of great trucks on line but avoided those Northeast trucks due to harsh weather.
