Quick update. I went with the dealer recommendations and used the same TPMS from my steel wheels on the TRD aluminum wheels and everything is working great so far. Its been 3K miles and no problem at all. I will update again if anything changes

When I switched wheels on my Tacoma. I went from steel to allow. They some how made the TPMS sensors work.

Technically you do need the 40-degree-angle sensors with the 7 digits. However, when I took my Pro alloys to be mounted in place of my stock steel wheels, Discount Tire said they swap the 20-degree-sensors all the time with no problem. They did break one when doing the swap, but replaced it for free. If you have to buy new ones I'd just get the "correct" ones, but tire shops should be able to swap the steel sensors.

Going to bump this. I have a 2013 with steel wheels and I want to swap to the wheels below. Everyone says I can just turn the sensors but the shop pulled one of my tires and said the old sensor wouldnt fit. Should I tell them to try harder? Try a different shop? Buy new sensors?

They "technically" don't fit, but they can make them work. I took my 2010 to Discount Tire to swap my stock steel wheels with TRD Off-Road wheels and they just flipped my stock sensors. They work just fine.

I don't remember exactly what it cost, but I'm pretty sure they just charged me for the balancing of the swapped tires. I do remember it being very reasonable.

I installed Trd wheels from a 2020. To replace my steel wheels on my 2021. They flipped sensors but after driving about 30 min they lose signal. Now don’t know what tpms sensors will work for the 2021 sr5
