OK I thought you were talking about an after-market camera system. I've started researching the Factory "Bird's eye view" camera system. Toyota introduced it in the Rav4 and Highlander but it has now expanded to the Camry, Sienna, and Avalon. It might not be long before they add it to the their trucks as well. So this is a good reminder that I need to study up!

Lou, I just noticed that my GPS stops working if I have the single toggle switch to Off.
Also, for some reason, I don't have to have the single switch on. The double switch works on its own. Is this correct? Not a biggie, still love it. Just wondering if I missed something.

@Jai LI your FRAC Harness is functioning normally. Check out post 663 for more details. You can also read more about the VIM switch function on Page 5 of your instruction manual. Glad to hear you're enjoying your FRAC harness!

@Scpringle, The FRAC Harness will work with a number of Lexus vehicles, but I'm not certain with the 2015 GX460. I'll have to dig in to the tech data this weekend and research it a bit more. Thanks again for being one of the FRAC Harness pioneer customers!

So i've been looking for a harness that would enable the rear camera with a switch. Don't need a front facing camera or Nav bypass. Do you make something simple like that?

You can configure the FRAC Harness to operate only the rear camera if that's all you want, but the other functionality is built in. I don't make a rear only anytime harness.

@TundraTex i have this unit and had the camera that mounted in the emblem also, I have since changed grilles and no longer have the emblem. I ordered a different camera, it has a red mini 4 pin connector where the old one was black. When plugged in no video. Do you know if there is a difference in the two? 97F4AFB4-640A-4F8A-865B-76BF7E0A3AA2.jpg

From what I’ve seen in the past they are usually the same. Try hooking up your old camera to make sure everything is still working and then plug the new one in again. The cameras do occasionally go bad or have a bad cable.

I did hook up old camera, all still works. Maybe it’s just a bad camera. Just wanted to make sure there was no difference before I order another one.

Check the "products discussed" links at the bottom of this thread page. Also the post immediately proceeding yours is a great example of the NOAUKA camera install, which would be very similar on your PRO Grill.

@ProtoJ What camera are you using and where did you get it from?

I have a 2018 SR Double Cab and now am wanting to put a front camera on my truck.

Anyone else put in a front camera on their 2018, any suggestions?

    Thank you

I really want to do this. I’ve watched Tex’s install video. It looks pretty involved. I always get nervous pulling off all those plastic panels and ripping apart the dash. Although I’ve pulled panels off before they never seem to go back on quite right. Broken tabs, clips, etc. and I use the plastic tool kit. How much time and how involved is the install in your opinion? Wish I had a bud that owned a stereo shop.

If you take your time and go easy it might take 2-3 hours. Just remember to pull the panels straight out. The Toyota design is pretty nice and the clips are very durable. I’ve had my HU out at least 7-8 times and it still fits snugly.

Thanks Tex. Your 2-3 is probably 5 to 6 for me but I appreciate your confidence. I’ll watch the video a few more times to get my confidence up. Thanks for the response.

@cjscinta, You can do it!! Like many new projects, it seems intimidating until you break it down step by step. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.

Great! Go ahead and install the camera and get the wiring routed into the cab. The FRAC installation is a breeze after that!

For you guys with this kit that have been looking into cameras, do they offer ones that have a longer pigtail connection? What I would like to do is instead of a front mount camera, I would like to run from the HU back to the hitch area and then have a camera mounted on the back of my camper. Obviously I would need to be able to disconnect it at the hitch area and then just plug in again when I'm ready to go. Does such a thing exist?

All of the cameras link in this thread convert the camera video output to a standard RCA connector. So you could run the camera extension as far as it goes, then connect to a standard RCA cable and route it to the HU as desired. You can buy RCA cables up to 100 feet long. Plenty of length for what you want to do.
