Great video , I love my FRAC and had that video been out I might have done it myself ! I have FRAC 1.0 and had to replace the camera and it was so easy to pop in and change out at the keyed connection point in the engine bay .

    Great job @TundraTex and @4x4_Angel!!!
I still have yet to install mine...I've got a TRD Pro Grille on the way. So hopefully I'll have this done in a week or so. The vid is/will be a huge help!
    Thanks again!!!

I installed mine today. Some minor cussing involved...only because of the cheap feel of the interior and taking 3 tries to pull the cable into the cabin. No broken clips tho and it works great! If i had to do it again it would be a breeze.

I got the harness and switches wired up last week so this weekend I’m trying to run the video cable through the firewall and install the front camera.
What’s the proper way to remove the passenger kick panel to be able to get to the rubber nipple?

Pull off the sill cover. It's just held in with clips. Then there is one nylon screw and two clips holding the kick panel in. Remove the screw and pull the kick panel out and to the rear. The bulkhead grommet harness will then be visible up under the dash. You should be able to see the lower nipple hole. The carpet is slotted around the harness.

Great video! I have the camera installed; the cable run; and I started disassembly of the interior. I got the shift cover off and the rest of the lower ray too. When I pulled out the A/C control panel, besides the lower plugs across the bottom, there is a plug halfway up the back for the controls. Does it twist or squeeze or just pull out? I cant get it to budge yet.

I got it. By studying the picture, it’s obvious you just push down on the tab. I didn’t notice that until I sent previous reply.

I finished, but I have problems. The rear camera works but not the front. And it doesn’t make any difference whether the on/off switch is on or not (the green wires). Flip switch to double bars and rear camera shows, regardless of on/off switch position.
Switch switch to single bar and the screen goes black, regardless of on/off.

Any ideas before I start all over?

If the screen is going black when you switch to the front camera, that means the FRAC circuit is working correctly and switching to the front cam video feed, but there is no video there to display. I would double check your front camera power, ground, and video output. Make sure the front cam video RCA plug is properly plugged in to the FRAC Harness circuit board. If none of this fixes the problem, you may have a bad camera. But that is extremely rare in my experience.

The on/off switch on the green wires is for the VIM Enable function only and has no effect on video.

Let me know how it works out.

I have power at the cable out through the firewall to the connector that the camera plugs into. So I’m guessing the camera is bad. I ordered another one.

Good deal. I helped a friend of mine with his install last year and he had the same problem. In that case it turned out that the culprit was the intermediate splitter cable that goes between the camera 4-pin mini connector and the video/power line going into the truck. Power was there, but the video lines were bad. So your camera may be ok. Good news is the cams are pretty cheap and you get all the parts to work with when you order a new one.

Please let me know how this turns out.

So when the camera arrives, I should first try interchanging that section of wiring before undoing the camera install? That would be nice, as I scratched the heck out of my wrists doing the camera install. LOL
It should arrive Mon or Tue.

My replacement camera arrived today, but yesterday I was taking some guys to lunch and when I switched the button to front camera to show them what was suppose to happen, it worked! Previously I had the key turned on but the engine was not running. Would that be the difference?
Anyway I will try the replacement camera, because it’s advertised as a front camera, and the camera I have up there now it showing a reversed image. When I pass somebody and they are on my right, they show as being on my left on the screen.

For those of you who are hesitant to do the install, it took me 6 months to finally get to it, and it wasn’t bad at all. I would have done the install 6 months ago if I knew it was going to be that easy.

The key needs to be in the "On" position; doesn't matter if the engine is running or not. The FRAC Circuit works off of "ignition" power.

What make/model is the camera, and will it fit in the Toyota logo of an older Tundra (I have the '10 Platinum grille in my '08 Limited)? Thanks!

@TundraTex for the FRAC do you need both rocker switches or can be be done on a 2017 Tundra with only one switch? Any ideas on mounting for a front camera on a 2017 TRD Pro Grille? Great video!!

@James07, There are two main functions provided by the FRAC Harness; Front/Rear Anytime Camera display and VIM control. Only one switch is required for each function, so if you only want the camera function, you only need to install the camera select switch. As @Jim LE 1301 stated, there is a lot of additional information in the main FRAC thread including camera installation, switch locations, etc. Check that out and let me know if you have additional questions. I'll be happy to help!
