Soon, heading to the man cave in about an hour. Had a bit of a incident last night with a chemical burn covering the entirety of both legs. Spent all night yesterday and most of today in bandages.

This is why I use Velcro gloves.

Hey bandit, I've got two of the standard length bolts left over from installing the SB on my son's SR5.
Obviously they're part of what holds the hitch on. If the threads in your frame survived, maybe you can use 'em.
I'll send them to you for free, if you want 'em.

I didn't even pay attention to the fact that it held part of the hitch on! I should probably take a look at this lol. It didn't seem like part of the hitch was there....Let me get back to you on this. And thank you very much for the offer! I need to figure out what's happening with the truck at the moment considering I just destroyed the rear end playing dukes of hazard. Not sure if we're keeping the hitch or making a custom one tucked behind the license plate yet.

Can I ask why you took it off? I'm battling with GM about getting out of my Chevy Shakerado and have been looking at the forums on the other 3 manufacturers, and I think Tundra is my top choice as of now, but I'm still in the research phase.

Most sway bars you loose clearance going over things and you can get (hung up) if going off road where the ground is badly jagged.. If your truck stays on road it helps alot and keeps everythig even.. it's really comes down to choice..

Which others manufacturers are you looking at?

Ok, yea I pretty much stay on road, if I do go off road, it certainly isn't rock crawling haha.

I'm done with GM after this, I'll either get a Tundra, F-150, or RAM. Like I said, I'm leaning toward the Tundra, but the F-150 is a close second. I've always been nervous about Dodge, and the newer RAM trucks haven't changed my perception, other than the interior quality of them.

Gm is garbage anymore.. made in China..

F150 is nice but there Ecoboost and some electrical problems have been noted.. also there aluminum truck costs more to repair if damaged....

Ram if you can keep a transmission in them or electronic problems I have been aware of.. gas engines are poorly done.. cummins is a turd just like the Nissan XD junk..

To be honest when you look at reliability, (American built) dependable, high resale and a truck that was engineered correctly you can't go wrong.. Toyota doesn't use newer technology in there trucks.. they want dependable long lasting trucks... I can say yes
    . I have 86, 95 Tacoma and 2003 tundra.. I stand beside Toyota..

once you own a Toyota you will understand what all the guys up on this board and others love the tundra..

I've got a long travel kit on my truck, the rear is getting a spring under axle kit. It won't work with the new setup...the TRD sway bar is more for street goers than dukes of hazard style driving

The Reliability is my main draw to the Tundra, as I have read about a number of those problems with Ford and RAM, and obviously having a Viberado, I know those issues all too well.

Do you plan on treating your tundra in a manner it was not originally intended? If so, buy a tundra.

The function of a sway bar is to resist articulation, i.e. body roll. Based on pics I've seen (and ZERO personal experience) maximum articulation in certain off-road situations is mandatory. Note that the TRD Pro's suspension, while fairly sophisticated, does not include the sway bar.

Bandit, I gotta wonder if your Dukes of Hazard rear end and hitch damage and the stuck bolt were related. I'm thinkin' distortion of the hitch structure (which the bolt passes thru) versus the truck frame, where the threads are (captive nut or plate). if so, the stuck bolt you just beat may not be the only one.

Yes, I'm primarily a street oriented driver, but occasionally do some light off-road stuff. I use the bed to haul material probably every other week or so, and maybe tow a couple times per year. So nothing crazy, I just like having a truck.

It's a good thing we're gonna end up boxing the frame and doing the long travel in the rear next then! :D

With everything, just get what you want and make it work. The tundra has it's weak points as well. The only perfect truck you'll find is the one you've built.
