One of the covers I'm considering is the Retrax Pro MX retractable. The few folks on this forum who've had them seem to like them a lot. I was wondering about their longevity and propensity to leak, though.

Reading some of the reviews on Amazon, there is a sizable, albeit minority, percentage (roughly 37%) of owners complaining about cracks and the plastic cover on the side of the canister breaking after several years:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B00..._mb_hist_1?filterByStar=one_star&pageNumber=1

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B00..._mb_hist_2?filterByStar=two_star&pageNumber=1

Among those few negative reviews are also a few who complain of leaks.

Those of you who have them, how long have you had them? And have you noticed any leaks, cracks or other problems that developed over time?

Main reason I ask is because I intend to keep my Tundra for a long time (our other two vehicles are well over a decade old) and would like a cover that'll last the life of the truck if I'm going to shell out almost $2000 for it. Curious to hear what you Retrax owners have to say.

    Thanks

Just installed my new Retrax Pro MX on my 2019 Tundra CM. There is leaking by the tailgate, but have to order a tail gate gasket and hopefully that should fix the problem. Besides that I love the fit and finish of the Retrax.

Thanks, GlockTeam123. By the way, I take it you shoot a Glock in competitions?

Anytime. Used to shoot in competitions now I am just a weekend range guy now. (If I ever get the time)

Just when installing the Retrax have the rails tilted up on a slight angel to keep water from coming in on certain points of the rails.

Not sure about Retrax but my American Roll cover on my last truck was 15 years old and was still working as good as new.

    Excellent tip. Thanks!

I shot my Glock 34 in its first competition - a 10K Run n Gun Biathlon last month. A few of the mags got real muddy in some of the obstacles, but the Glock never jammed. Was pretty impressed by that.

Sounds like another good option. Will have to look into that one as well. Thanks.

Thinking further on your advice to tilt the rails up, do you mean angle them so that they're higher in the back and lower in the front so that they angle down towards the front drain tubes? Are shims provided to do that?

Thanks everyone. Decided to go a different route. Just ordered a Diamondback.
