I need a new muzzle device for my AR15. Now I am running a Midwest 3 Chamber and it is awesome for everything except two things:

    - Obviously no flash suppression, but I am not out shooting at night.....

    - So. Damn. Loud.

What are you people running for muzzle devices?

I run Manticore arms night brakes on a lot of my rifles. Maybe not the best option for flash suppression, but they do help. And great for muzzle rise although that shouldn't be as big of concern on 5.56.

My SIL was an instructor at the Colorado School of Trades Gunsmithing school in Denver. They would make some of their own brakes but also did a test of a lot of the brakes on the market to see how effective they were for a variety of factors. I had him build me a long range rifle in 300 RUM a few years ago and based on their tests, the best brake for that rifle was a Shrewd Varmint Brake. Not sure how much the brake has to do with it but the rifle is rediculously accurate out to 1400 yards. I would definitely use one on any of my other rifles again.

I use the Surefire or Lantac brakes. Very easy to control and stays on target for follow up shots especially with a quick trigger like Geisselle. Now it is loud but I also use the Surefire warden and it redirects the blast in the front and not to your teammates on the side. Also convenient when going prone. Doesn't kick up dust or sand in your face anymore.

I also like the Griffon ones.

btw, I just noticed you have 2 crush washers. One is enough to time your muzzle brake.

I agree with that statement. Only issue was the ports were not lining up, and it is hard to crank down on this style of brake without the tool slots. It was purchased that way. Another reason I am looking for something more user friendly. That is just retarded having to stick screwdrivers or pry bars in the ports to align.

Great suggestions. I will look into these devises as well.

    Keep them coming.

both the surefire and Lantac Dragon brakes have flats so you can use a wrench once it's secured in a vise.
Also the BCM gunfighter and Griffin Armament ones. For less $$, check Strike industries.

    Many to come.
Most/many AR owners get a bit too tacticool with their weapons. Key word here is weapon. The AR, or more specifically, the M16, is a weapon. As such, all of your mods. should lend themselves to making your weapon more weapon like. Look no further than the YHM Phantom 5C2 flash suppressor. This particular device is quite handy in CQC situations where you may want to muzzle punch someone and/or push them out of the way as you shoot them, or not. Very aggressive, light and above all, functional. Stay light my friend.
