I bought these tow mirrors for my '18 TSS SR5 v8. I read that the truck was wired for marker and turn signals even though they aren't present on the stock mirrors.

The install was a breeze, but the left side turn signal doesn't work and the right side marker light doesn't work. One works on one mirror and the other works on the other. I've contacted the seller and they claim the mirrors don't work for my year/make/model. But, as evidenced by what is working, clearly I am wired for it.

The seller has offered to take my return with no restocking fee, but I want these mirrors. Is this likely faulty hardware and should I press for a replacement set?

JMHO, I would return and look for OEM. Not much more in cost.

Thanks @johnxmccoy. I probably should've gone that route to begin with. I see now that they aren't that much more $$.

@johnxmccoy Thanks for your input. Try as I might, the seller wouldn't budge on the return and replace. So, I took the thing apart and realized that I bent one of the pins during install. It works great now. Live and learn!

Glad you figure it out, $200 with free shipping ain't bad, how's the heated part and smoked lights working out? do they heat up as fast as the stock ones? are the lights bright enough? post some pics if you can.

I agree with the others. OEM.

I have the OEM mirrors on my 14' and everything works as it should.

@Dmas Here are some photos for you. Now, I haven't had a lot of time with them. But, for the price (and now that I know they work as they should) I'm really happy with them. They look sharp with the smoked markers look great. I will say that the marker and blinker lights aren't terribly bright during the daytime. I'd give them a 7 out of 10 compared to similar pieces. You can see in the photos that they're small LEDs. Plenty bright at night, though. If you want other pictures let me know.

    Side Marker:

    Side Blinker + Marker

    Back Folded

    Front Folded

    Front Extended

I'll try to take some pictures tonight so you can see what they look like in the dark.

I agree OEM is the best way to go, no doubt about it, but those look really good and the LED's are pretty bright, also, price is damn good for the pair, I was just wondering about the heated part, thanks Ron!! great pics and nice looking truck.

How about BSM? Do those have that feature? I have some Tow mirrors that don't have BSM , so I took them off because I like that added safety feature.

So how are the tow mirrors. Does the glass shake while driving. And is the bottom glass concave or flat. I had tow mirrors in previous truck and liked the bottom mirror concave so I used it as a blind spot mirror basically. I need tow mirrors. Trying to decided on aftermarket or oem

I also needed tow mirrors and used my parts discount at the dealer to just get the OEMs and had the mechanic swap them out. They do stick out a few more inches so I collapse them whenever I'm parked out in public so nobody hits them.

Oh the 2018 Tundra Platinum have outside mirrors that have a button to collapse them...just throwing that out there!

I saw the prices on the power fold tow mirrors. Seems pricey for almost 400 each

Yes Toyota OEM parts are not cheap by a long shot! In my old 05 Tacoma, a small device on the cab which told outside temp and direction went out and the dealer priced it at around $285! It was the only thing I used my extended warranty on...my deductible was $100. (I don't buy extended warranties for my Toyota's anymore)

I only tow a couple of times a year. has anyone ever used those slide on, slide off mirror extensions. I do not mind a little vibration as I hear that they all do some.

If you would have asked me a couple weeks ago I would have said yes - my mirrors from 1AAuto are fine. I had to replace the passenger side once due to excessive play where it folded - allowed it to move back and forth while driving at highway speed and was very annoying. Customer service replaced it with no questions.

However recently, about 1 year after purchase, both mirrors are having issues folding (power fold mirrors). Sometimes they fold part way, sometimes they will not unfold completely, sometimes they do nothing. They have discontinued these mirrors so I need to call and ask for a new set. Lifetime warranty.

If it wasn't for the power fold issues I would recommend what I have.

What brand are they? Maybe getting non powerfold would be worth it.. not having BSM on OEM mirrors will bother me

They don't have a brand name on them...that's why they're 1/2 the price of OEM. OEM power fold mirrors are $800. I wanted to keep the power fold functionality that comes with my Platinum but couldn't see spending that much. I didn't realize how nice power fold mirrors are until you start parking in small spaces and don't want to get out every time to manually fold the mirrors. Now I use it constantly.

I've never had a vehicle with BSM so I don't know if it would bother me losing it or not. Also keep in mind that you'll lose the auto-dim if you have that functionality. Though it was nice to have I don't seem to miss that feature much.

I called 1AAuto today and they sent a new pair right out for warranty replacement. Their customer service is great. They say they have very few problems with these mirrors. I must be the lucky customer getting all the defective ones...

Good thing they only take 10min each side to replace.

Hi everyone. I just bought a 2017. It only has heated mirrors but no turn signal indicator nor proximity lane change warning.
Will I be OK to buy the heated AND blinker towing mirrors? Is there wiring within the current heated only mirror that would allow me to match it to the mirrors I want that have both heated and signals?
Please let me know and a hastey reply would be great as I need mirrors bad!!!

If you buy the OEM Toyota mirrors the heated and signal features will work, even if you didn't have the signal feature before. Not sure about 3rd party mirrors if they will work like that or not.
