I have an 06 TRD double cab with 75k miles one owner I purchased used in March. Love the truck, it could eat my old Ridgeline for lunch!
Only thing the Ridgeline was better at was storage space. The Tundra rear seat folds up but just doesn't make much space. The Ridgeline also had a nifty double swing tailgate and a large hinged locking compartment in the bed floor.
I'd like to add a undercover swing case to store tools and etc., but don't see that they make one for the Gen 1 Tundras. Anyone adapt another model to fit our trucks?
    Thanks!

I would contact SwingCase and ask them for the dimensions of the Tacoma or 07+ Tundra model and see if it will fit. They must have had other 1st gen owners inquire. Keep us posted.

Welcome from eastern CO! I thought the swing cases were universal?

Thanks for the welcomes, it's great to have a source of experience to keep the truck alive!
Great idea to call Swing Away, so I got their phone number on the website and reached Tony who said they didn't go as far back to the Gen 1's for their production. He didn't know why the Gen 1 is different from any other truck. Only solution is to buy one for another truck and trial and error see if it will fit. Guess I'll try to find a Gen II and look at the the tailgate/wheel well areas and see if they look similar to my Gen 1....

@markshoreline here's another option if you have the bed rail system. These run around 55" long and $299.

@MotoTundra has an in-depth write up of installing the SwingCase on his 2014:

I’m sure he would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Yes, I did read Casper's post... just don't know what differences there are. However, I know where there is a 1012 on a car lot so I'm going to take a look...

I would say the cases are similar/universal, but the brackets are different for different trucks.

I looked at the 2012 and compared it to my 06. The dimensions are the same- from the tailgate to the wheelwell, bed height, wheelwell projection from the side, etc. The one difference is in the dimples that are pressed into side of the bed. Maybe that will kill the install, but I went ahead and ordered a swing case for the driver side of a '07-'18 and I'll see if it fits. If not, maybe someone here will want it for their newer truck...

Aw, Man! Sorry I didn't see this thread til just now. I have a swing case on my 3rd gen... and recently bought a 1st gen. If you want, I can see if I can move it over-? Only hang up I could see, is the '02 has a bedliner in it (anyone want it it? Free to a good any other home), but if you need me to try to swap over so you'll know it will work, I'll give it a shot. Don't want to remove that bedliner til I figure out where to put (get rid of) it, so it's not taking up space off the truck.

Sunnier, awesome offer! However, I pushed the go button and it will be delivered next week so I'll just check it then can provide a contribution on this site back to the members.
