Tire Pressure Monitoring System Malfunction

    When I first had my 305/55r20 Cooper Discoverer SST Pro tires installed, the shop that did the installation put 36 lbs. on the front and 30 lbs on the back. The truck literally drove like a tank. When I returned to the shop, the shop owner informed me that his employee inflated the tires close to the Toyota recomendations and because the new tires were rated for 60 psig max, I was basically driving on half of what the tires were rated for. He increased the tire pressure to 50 lbs. on the front, and 45 lbs. on the back. I noticed a dramatic difference immediately. The weather had been cool for a few days, but yesterday it warmed up quite a bit and when I left work to go to class at 3:30 pm, all the sensors were reading 50 psig. When I left school, at 6:00 pm, the temperature had dropped a little and the TPMS was giving me the error message "The TPMS is malfunctioning, Contact the dealership." Can the TPMS be reprogramed to read over 50 lbs. or should it be reading over 50 lbs. and something is not working properly? Also, did I void my warrenty on the TPMS by going to a larger tire size?

    2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
    Have you used your TPMS reset button on your dash to adjust your system for the revised pressure?
    Instructions for doing this are in the owner manual.

    Thanks, I've been having problems with my new tires and after having them road forced balanced, two of the tires were bad. Cooper is sending me a whole new set and I'm swaping them out tomorrow. I'll just let the shop reset it. I thought I might have broke something.

    The TPMS maxes out at 50-psi. I verified with my local dealer and also contacted Toyota Corp. They verified and added that the Tundra was designed to operate at blah-blah-blah and that exceeded the design parameters wasn't advised. I occasionally tow a 6,400 pound travel trailer (well under max specs). When towing, I inflate the E-rated (Michelin LTX Defender) tires to 62-psi. My TPMS shows 50-psi all around which makes it kind of worthless. I have the tires at 44-psi when not towing.

    I would like the Toyota Engineers to ride on my tires at their designed parameters and and then see what they advise. At 36 psig, I have to make a wide half turn into my driveway and back up to get a better angle just so I dont drive in the grass and it's two vehicles wide.
