    **Update**
Took it apart over the weekends . Here's some pics .

Found a LOT of shaved metal.... obviously... Gear seemed to be good. Pinion got a little worn (explains the humming). Can I just toss a locker and use original ring and pinion? What if I even just replace the pin and drive it like that after cleaning it up a bit :smash:

Lasted me 50k and 2 burnouts Lol

    :help:
My rear diff bit couple teeth or something. The shaft from tran has some free spin (in neutral) before it engages with the diff. Diff fluid full of metal shavings. Hums when driving and has kicked 3 times already while driving. Dealer said the fluid was a bit too low and might have been the reason in first place, didn't think of checking it when I got the tundra off the last guy..... oh and I didn't make it any better getting rid of my old tires....
    :burnrubber::mudding::poking:

Haven't taken it apart yet to check the insides and what exactly blew, will do that this next weekend.

Got 35's so probably go with 4.88's since more of them out there....

    These work? https://www.randysworldwide.com/product/yg-t10-5-488/
Guessing I'll need the overhaul kit as well? https://www.randysworldwide.com/product/yk-t10-5/

What should I know before I buy anything or take it apart my self? Is it a 10.5" diff?
Might end up having a local shop do it, if they even know how....otherwise I'll prop it up and get my own hands dirty and learn how to do my first diff lol......

UNLESS>>......someone on here got another stock they upgraded and I can take it from ya for a discount ;):boink:
    :spending:

Great excuse for you to go with 4:88s. Since you're running 35s I'd go that route before swapping in another rear end with 4:30s.

@831Tun Yeah I was thinking about it earlier but kept putting it off. Now I have a reason to do it. Only reason I'd go with a stock is cuz wedding coming up so I don't mind saving couple bucks lol

I’d find a junkyard one with good teeth and all for a good price or eBay (housing and all). Swap out. Then, rebuild your old one with 4.88 and sell it in order to break even.

This coming from a guy with 2 vehicles though.... so my take is a little different.

Check out https://www.rogue-offroad.com/ for gears, he has some really good pricing and is pretty knowledgeable. Might also be a good time to throw in a locker or LSD

I agree 100%. Sometimes you get lucky, you just got to call around.

    None, yet....
If your truck can be down for a week, pull the diff and sent it to East Coast Gear Supply. They will provide the parts and do a complete rebuild for you. Then they ship it back and you install it.

Really great company and a good bunch of guys. I’ve had them install gears and ARB lockers on a total of about 7-8 diffs now and 0 issues thus far with many years and miles on them. When I’m ready for ARB lockers on my tundra, both of my diffs will be going to them for install.

For a rear end, swap it out and when you get time and money you can rebuild the other rear end (or just pumpkin)with 4.88s and a LSD if wanted. Sounds like a compleate rebuild and will need gears and bearings. If you have time stop by your local dealership and ask (kindly) to see the repair procedure on ALLDATA Repair software and try not to accidentally hit the print button.
