You are so correct, the basics can be the greatest! Great seeing a classic give so much and keep on going, bet you have some good memories of great cooks and times! I bought a used Lone Star Griilz smoker I posted here a while back, I'm restoring it to the best original state I can, I'm thinking of putting my own touch on it by taking the fire box down to bare metal and not repainting but instead, coating with a good cooking oil and seasoning it like you would a cast iron skillet and just keep it oiled up and it will eventually leave a good tint and stay rust free!

I'll waiting the main chamber and stand in BBQ black though, its a pain getting the FB down to bare metal, it's a 1/4" steel smoker so it had rust onto of FB and pitted so I'm trying to figure the best way to even it out and get to bare metal, I've been using a wire brush on grinder and the grinder with flap disk wheel at 40 and 60 grit but crap, it doesn't seem to get at it, slowly if that!

Anyway sorry for the rambling on!

here's my project and will make some serious BBQ, I've been pretty at it since my younger years but haven't been at it fro a few years because this getting old sucks at times, lol

For the 26 gallon tank you need the rear strap unless your truck already has the Offroad package. The front of the skid is supported with the two supplied brackets. The larger tanks require two replacement tank straps that are sold by RCI. I installed the new rear strap on mine with no issues. Didn't have time to mount the skid. Had to grille. The replacement traps for the SR5 are sold in pairs so I have a spare front strap to stare at. Skid will go on today.

i did the 38 gallon conversion and i did not have the off road package originally. the rci straps are a bit high priced at $150 plus tax and shipping wish they had mentioned on the tank skid page that you needed those so i could've gone another direction.

is the Amazon strap for the rear? i'll get it ordered up and have it in a couple days. which of the other straps holds the skid and what holds the third mounting point? or should there be brackets for the 38 gln tank too?

tia for helping figure this out.

The RCI straps do seem to be more beefy than what I bought. The straps I ordered for my 26 gallon come in pairs. I only needed the rear strap with the bolts welded on to it. The front of the 26 gallon skid uses two brackets that came with the skid. From pics on RCI's site it looks like the 38 gallon skid simply mounts to the two tank straps. 4 mounting points. Two on each strap. You will most likely need the RCI straps...unless they are OEM 38 gallon Off Road package straps. In that case I'd check with @Roman!

Tank skid installed. 45 minutes. I'd post pics but my SD card crashed in my cell phone......Post pics tomorrow, but they will basically look like what's on RCI's site. If RCI has a MGM Friday sale...... I'll pony up some more scratch for the transfer case skid. Have to balance my budget....ToyTec has a Slate Metallic Friday sale....the best....:infantry::kona:

In case someone wants to add skid resistant pads to their bumper, trailer, or ??.....Sure Step pads are great. I've mentioned them earlier in my thread.

OK...where to begin... I was contemplating on going to @COMiamiFan's ARB non-install party. Well after having a local brewed Dales Pale and enjoying the sun, I decided to cure my first non forced error CEL. I got the dreaded ubiquitous P055X CEL. In our case with the Tundra it is the P0553. >>>>.....vvvvv...

P0553 TOYOTA - Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input......!!!!!!!!!!!!
So....last week after verifying CEL...........Yes, I checked my power steering fluid level. Yes, I looked for leaks and...God forgive me.....I checked my own rack for leaks.............heresy....
I used my spare android phone with Torque Pro app installed ($4.99)... to confirm the P0553 CEL. At that point...I actually got out my Haynes $35.84 CAD (Canadian) $29.05 US, manual that I bought the same day I got my Tunny in April/2014. Yes ...I finally needed it. Dusted it off and looked up the page to show me the location of the power steering pressure sensor. Nope...not showing you all a pic. Find out where it is for yourself. Harsh... I know... but life is harsh. Know where your sensors are, your starter, alternator, power steering pump, etc. Anyways... so.....short story long.....I located the power steering pressure sensor. Disconnected the "connector" from the sensor. Got out my Fluke 77-IV DMM and Ohmed out the pins. Kind of a bi**h with sensor in situ. Anyways the Fluke indicated>>>sensor ground pin to the 3 other sensor connector pins all ->->->......................INFINITY Ohms... ............as in OPEN...=>>>>not good. Next...upload_2019-1-17_19-34-35.jpg Went online to super slow white Amazon Prime and ordered this....................upload_2019-1-17_19-18-42.jpg

for $18.26...way way cheaper than the dealer..........
When the sensor got dropped off from super white A Prime Tunny....the first thing I did was Ohm out the new sensor. upload_2019-1-17_19-35-38.jpg
Ground to all three pins = 5 MOhms. Pin to pin = 400KOhms..........Hell yeah...in the money...!! So.....fixing time>>>disconnected the connector from dead sensor. Removed fracked sensor. Removed rubber o-ring from fracked sensor and put it on new sensor. Hand threaded in new sensor and tightened. Topped off power steering fluid with Lucas' Power Steering Fluid. Started engine. BlueToothed my super slow white Amazon Prime $8 OBDII reader to my spare DROID phone with Torque PRO and cleared the CEL. Verified no leakage from new sensor seal.....Test drive.......Still no leakage:thumbsup:
I'll add some pics of bad sensor and other goodies....

On a serious note if you have any questions or issues with the P0553 code let me know. At least I got this figured out and doesn't break the bank. No need going to the dealer.
