Having a smaller sized rig (but not as small as a Tacoma) with V8 power, I can definitely see the attraction to the 1st Gen Tundras. I have many friends who own them. Two of my friends have 1st Gens that are nearing 300,000 miles.

I love Raptor threads. In fact, when I see the next one, I’m going to nuke it faster than one can go over whoops.

I was wondering when the Raptor discussion topic was going to be included in the "things you can't mention on this site" under the Code of Conduct.

If anyone’s interested. I read it completely. They’re not all bad guys.

I will say that when the raptor first came out I wanted it. It’s a sick ass truck! Right out of the box it’s ready. I think my biggest problem with it is reliability. Which is why at this point my life I wouldn’t own it. I got tired of buying cars/trucks because they look cool. The raptor is one of the few that holds its resale value because it’s specific and frankly pretty awesome.

You can’t compare Toyota tundra to a Raptor. The tundra is built to work and play. So there has to be a compromise. The Raptor is built for fun and that’s it and my opinion.
Of course you can build a tundra to keep up with the Ford. Some people want to buy it ready to go out of the show room floor. Go for it! And my opinion we’re comparing apples and oranges. I think it would be cool if Toyota offered a limited version of a long travel truck. Something with the drivetrain that you could stand behind. Or build your own if you’ve got the time and money.

Me I’m going to stay very far away from a Raptor. I need something I can count on to keep me and my family safe and not stuck in the desert somewhere. If I had the money I would just build a long travel tundra. Would probably end up costing the same or more than a raptor but I would have the drivetrain I’d prefer.

I don’t think it would be cool for Toyota to offer a LT version off the floor. Then you end up with a bunch of people who have no clue what they are doing out rolling those trucks in the desert. To have a LT truck you need to understand it.

It’s like the side by side scene. Yes, they are fun and I’d love one when I can afford one. But, now any asshat off the street can go finance one and kill a dirt biker in the dunes because they have no clue.

The raptor is cool for sure. I have a few friends with them. I really like them. But, slap some coilovers, uppers, leafs and rear shocks on a tundra and you have something close for a lot less.

Nice truck. As soon as I mortgage my house for more Spark parts, my SR5 will no longer have any chrome and will look similar to yours! :)
