Whats up guys and gals! Looking into getting a remote starter for the ride. Any recommendations? What brands are are good and what to stay away from. All answers are very much appreciated! :headbang:

BakFlip MX4 Tonneau, 12 Volt Solutions Remote Starter More minor mods coming
I purchased one from https://www.12volt.solutions/ for my 2019 Tundra 1794 ($349.00 +shipping) and installed it yesterday. Truly plug and play. All you do to the truck is remove some panels, unplug some connectors and plug them into in their harnesses and then connect their harnesses into the empty connectors in the truck and into their module. The only splicing that needs to be done is to connect the leads from a 2-wire connector that they supply into one of their harnesses. They give you the crimps for this.
Once installed, there are a few steps that you need to do to program the module but that takes all of 30 seconds or so.
I watched their installation video several times which made it pretty easy.
I like this starter over the others that I saw for a few of reasons:
    1. Ease of installation.
    2. You use the buttons on the h-key. no other fob is needed.
    3. It doesn't kill the engine when you open the doors which a lot of other remote starters do. On this one, the anti-theft feature is that if you put your foot on the brake to take it out of park before you insert the key, it kills the engine.
They have a starter for 2016 models but I'm not sure what's involved with installing them. Check out their installation video for it
I emailed some questions to them prior to purchase and they got right back to me so customer service seems good.
Good luck! Let us know what you buy and how it works out.

I’ve got the Compustar DroneMobile. Use my phone to start it. App is a little sketchy sometimes, so I had my key fobs programmed to start with 3x lock.

I was as well but it’s hard for me to justify $120 more than Fortin Evo that apparently only has 1 wire to splice.

I was looking at this one too. Does it complete with the plug and play or do any wires have to be cut and spliced to the factory harnesses. How easy was that install?

Pretty easy to install. All T harness. You do need to posi tap one wire and he provides everything with clear instructions. Most of the work is pulling your trim apart but he has a video for that too. It's a great intro mod to tearing your trim apart for future upgrades. I'm not sure why more people aren't hitting this deal up.

PM me if you decide to bite and have questions.

i was comparing this one to the 12.Volt and that price of $350 just seemed way to high if this one offered the same thing. I saw a few videos online but the guy has about 9 wires he had to tap into and remove a whole bunch from the starter module. Thank you @tinman10101 for the reply.

Yeah I looked at that too and couldnt justify the price. I have had 0 issues with mine ... works like a charm. Just press lock 3x on key FOB. Wait till it starts .... Then press unlock once to get in or 2x to open all doors. Place key in ignition and turn one click and press brake.

Sorry for the delay, been under the weather. The 4806v. Reviews have all been positive and I don't need an LCD display. Just give me the chirp telling me it's fired up. I'm pretty jealous of everyone here that can do installs themselves. Every time I try something, it ends up going to the shop to get fixed because I don't have the understanding of wiring and stuff. Couple that with I guess for Toyota's there is a harness they put in. Now this might just be a way to do it simpler or a way to charge me more money, I don't know. But I'll be OK with it.

I do have to say though, I was bummed that the Tundra didn't come with remote start. My base model 2011 Malibu had it standard and my 2005 VW Passat had it standard. Though I have heard also that the Toyota starter is not that great, but I'm a n00b so I can't say right or wrong.

Probably a stupid question, anyone use the factory Toyota remote start? I'm guessing the aftermarket ones are just better?

OEM turns off when you open the door from what I’ve read so most people go aftermarket so the truck will stay running.

When I first bought my truck the salesman said "Toyota does allot of good things, but the factory auto start is not one of them". He then told me a few different shops with aftermarket kits.

I ordered the one with the 2018 harness for my truck yesterday. I was looking at this one and the 12voltsolutions one, watched installation videos and read instructions for both. I think they are almost the same thing. They install the same way, program, operate, and flat look the same. Only real difference I can tell is the price, so I opted to save $115 and go with the Fortin Evo One.

I love my truck but can't understand how remote start isn't already fairly standard in the Tundras. Even my 2014 F150 in mid range XLT trim had it. I'm just glad it's fairly easy to take care of. Here in South Louisiana I use it the opposite of what everyone else desires it for, I use it mostly to cool the truck down before getting in after it's been sitting in the sun all day.

I get mine installed tomorrow and can’t wait. We went right from summer to winter here in Chicago ! I would use it for the summer too but seems like the tundra takes a while to cool and almost like you have to be driving it to cool down unlike my past vehicles
