I traded my STi on 8/10/13 for this Tundra to haul my '82 yota around when I finish building it. So it'll be a mellow build, mostly cosmetic. I'm really liking this truck so far. Great ride plenty of storage and room. Its got decent power too. I know I'm going to enjoy this truck for many years.
    Obligatory stock driveway pic!

With 200 miles on the odometer I did my first mod, plasti-dip my badges. I was going to de-badge but I think the truck needs a bit of contrast on the sides since its a big wall of solid color. I did not dip the 5.7 badge, I don't like the chrome on it but I don't think I want it solid black either. I have a couple ideas for it, just not to sure how well they will turn out. I plan on taking off the flex fuel badge just didn't have time yet. On with the pics!

The next weekend I was pretty busy. BHLM, dipped bumper, wheels and grille surround. I really like the new look. I also sprayed the front emblem red.

The next week I did the fog light mod and took it out on some trails. Truck did really well. Transfer case is really whiney and the frame creaks a lot, but the ride is really good. I wonder how much better a TRD suspension is. Non street tires sure would have been nice in the mud!!!

A month after I got the truck I got the front windows tinted to match, sure does make it looks so much better.

I hacked the exhaust at the last hanger so I wouldn't have to deal with it while I was doing the drop. I'm going to put a BAMuffler strait through exhaust with axle dump so it was just easier to do it this way.

Then came the drop! It took me a few hours working by myself. Was pretty easy and the kit was very well made. The fitment was spot on and the instructions were easy to read and well thought out.
    Getting ready to work.

The last thing I have done was installing the info button, took a whole whopping 28 seconds! Sure is nifty though. I drove to Texas over the holidays and it was pretty accurate with my calculations with odometer/gallons calculations. 16.5 vs actual 16.25. I was hoping for better but the truck only has 4200 miles on it now so hopefully it'll get better.

So you wheeled it and then dropped it. Weird. :)
Looks good and im sure it is nice and fast. Not my preference but still looks good. You should slap some larger wheels on there, would look good.
    Where are you located btw?

It's just to big to wheel. I have my wife's Tacoma for the fast easy and moderate trails and I have my '82 that I'll hit the hard stuff with. This is just my cruiser/hauler. No sense lifting it to get worse fuel economy and make it harder to get in to. Plus I like being different!
22's will be put on in a few months. I'm live in Pueblo West.

Nice setup with the other rigs. In a perfect world, I have would have my Tundra as the daily and a Taco for a rig on the trails.

The Tacoma makes for a great camping/trail runner. It's a hoot blasting around on the trails with it. My wife drives it pretty fast too! The '82 will pick up where the Tacoma fails, the gnarly stuff. It'll have the typical stuff, dual cases, 5.29 gears, ARB lockers and sitting on 40's.

Black or white? I haven't decided yet. I'll probably spray it white then hit it with black if I don't like it.

My opinion after looking at the white rock warrior is that the front bumper should be white and the rear black.

x2! I don't think I've seen many lowered Tundys. Looks good though, OP!

It's been a few months but I've finally gotten something else done! I wrapped my "oh shit" handles in paracord. I also ordered a Hypertech Interceptor and a budget exhaust from BAMufflers. Going to test them on the 1/4 mile here in March, hoping to see some gains.

Looks good man! You will definitely feel the increase in power with the hypertech interceptor. I run mine without the pedal module hooked up. I used that part for a while, but I'm so used to the sensitive stock pedal, I just like it that way. But the interceptor really added back the low end tq I lost from dual exhaust and added hp. Real nice for the price

Woot! Got home from CrossFit this afternoon and a big ole box was sitting on my porch! My BAMufflers exhaust and Hypertech interceptor. I so want to put 'em on but I must wait. On the 16th the local track is having their opening season "test and tune" and I'm going to do some testing! Base line runs stock then with exhaust and then with both. Hmmmm I do need to see if everything fits before I get to the track and it is 2 weeks away.......

I also ordered Wet Okole seat covers in a group buy from TacomaWorld. Should get them in 3-4 weeks. I got black and taupe (their medium tan color) to help break up all that tan. I need to order some Weathertech's too I'm thinking tan since the carpet is black and my wife's Weathertech's are black and they show dirt horribly.

I ran my truck this weekend at my local dragstrip yesterday. I did some base line runs then added my BAMuffler exhaust ran some more then added the Hypertech interceptor. I really didn't see much gains if anything I lost some on the top end. My ET's dropped by .05 and I lost .5 mph. 15.57 @89.7 was average. I'm an at 5000'. I did notice my 60' time were faster by .04 with exhaust and chip. I was running in 4x4 to keep wheel spin at bay for more accurate times. With the chip and exhaust on the truck does feel peppier which would explain the low end numbers being faster. To be fair to my testing the air temps did go up by 28° from my first runs at stock setup. If the air temps stayed the same I'm sure the top end would not have dropped off as much. The truck sounds fuggin awesome! I am happy with both as they do complement each other. The truck is funner to drive and if I didn't drive it like I stole it I know my mpg's will go up a bit too. And if I had bigger tires I'd bet the extra torque would be more noticeable.

I'm glad you were able to get this testing done. I'm sure alot of people, like me, want to know if there are actual improvements or just sales gimmicks.
Looks like there really isn't any gains except on the low end with the hypertech interceptor (and a good sounding truck).
Good job and thanks for the testing

Got my Wet Okole seat covers in yesterday and I installed them today. Oh boy what a pain in the ass that was! I installed my wife's in her Tacoma yesterday and they were pretty easy. But with my truck being a DC I had to take my back seat out and the front seats have more plastic on the sides that needed to be removed too. The extra work was worth it though. Got some much needed contrast from all of that tan.
