Your barns are so nice. Growing up in new England I have a soft spot and an eye for cool barns. I hope to one day own a property with a nice old barn on it. I really like the work you do and can't wait for the next project.

Thank you Sean! My next barn is going to be 16,000 square feet! It’s a large project and I've got multiple structures to build.

I cut some limbs and cut up a few that fell during recent storms. Split the wood up with my log splitter, its almost a cord worth.
I have a large pine tree (you see about 1/3 of it in the background) I still need to split another day...This was enough work for a Sunday for me. This will be fuel for the maple syrup evaporator.

Looks so good. Must feel amazing to finally see that grass growing. What the plan for that space? Animals? Cut for hay? Mow it?

Thanks!! It really does feel good!! I’ve been dreaming of grass rather than weeds out there since we bought the property 3+ years back. It’s been a long time coming :D
Everyone thinks we should do wine grapes (we live in an up-and-coming winery area), but I’m 30 years from retiring so that isn’t happening LOL.
I think we’ll do a few good beef cows or something. Maybe some chickens too if I can come up with a little to no maintenance chicken area lol.

Yeah it was a good amount of work, not bad once I got everything cut and moved close to the splitter. I had to turn the splitter vertical for some of the bigger logs I couldn't lift. I have about 5 cords of wood sitting at my brothers that we need to split and stack into the new wood shed asap. Wood shed need floor and roof lol sp we've got our work cut out for us

Thanks! I’m not alone in it though! LOL Super thankful for my kick-ass wife that mows the “nice” yard around the house (3/4 acre of grass). She’s a trooper! She just sprayed our flower beds this weekend (4 gallons of weed killer) while I took the kids out hunting :D

Took down a red maple that was too close to our home. Take it down now, or pay big bucks later to have it professionally taken down when it’s huge. The JD made moving the fire wood easy...

I don’t recall the exact model - it’s the cheaper Home Depot model (100 series 48”) They were $1600 or so at Home Depot and I found this one on CL for $1000 with only 30 hours on it. I should’ve went with the better model that lasts a lifetime, but I have another free JD with 15hrs on it sitting at a friends house I found out about right after I bought this one lol.

That’s how ya do it!

For you firewood guys - after splitting many rounds and you’re left with a big pile (like I have now 5 cords) I found an easy way of moving and storing the wood.
$30 IBC totes. After our shop is built, I plan on loading these up with wood (load with tractor/bucket) then stacking them on the backside of our shop. When the house needs some wood, just go pick a bin with the tractor (forks) and move it over to the back-porch easy access firewood area.
Downside is initial cost of totes, and it will take up more space. But for me the time savings is worth it.
    (Pic isn’t mine)

I've seen that idea for wood discussed before, the downside is you need a big machine to move them since you're taking 15-1700lbs loaded which puts you in a 40hp+ tractor.

Building four 5/0x8/0 barn doors out of cedar. This is always one of my favorite finishes on a barn.

Then you would like this huge stick framed building we built. It's all cedar walls inside. This isn't a good picture but it does show the walls. It's 120'x60'x18'
