Figure I should start one of these since I plan on doing a lot of modifications. To start off I come from the Tacoma scene where my first truck was a 2016 Tacoma TRD OR in Quicksand. It was a beautiful truck but it had its shortcomings in the engine and transmission department. Here’s a pic of my Tacoma.98E60ED2-C053-4E57-8493-69383F9074C7.jpg
The Tacoma was a great truck. But I went cheap and didn’t get 4wd. A big time mistake. Although she handled herself on the trails with the rear locker I knew I wanted a 4wd truck and for the price the tundra was not much more expensive. So I came across the tundra I have today. A crewmax 4x4 SR5. It had the upgrade package but other then that it was a very basic truck. Here it is the first day I bought it.

As soon as I took this thing off the lot I began doing research and ordering parts. I went with the Toytec/Eibach 3/1 lift it. And also went with method Nvs with 295/70/18 Toyo ATs. And here’s a pic of after that was done.

After the big thing was taken care of. I began to work on the small things. Next was window tint of chrome deleting as well as adding side steps and a new grille.

I plasti dipped the emblems and replaced the door handles. The side steps were 100 dollars off eBay and I was skeptical but so far they seem to be doing fine. I also went with the EAG grille. It’s the raptor light look and I love it although some don’t agree! Next was a bed cover and a wooden box I created at home to store tools and such.
    AC091267-A25E-4507-BC03-2F8001161B7B.jpg
I went with an undercover hard folding cover. It’s very good quality and easy to install. The lighting for the bed is operated off a battery so no wiring needed for that. Next step was adding lighting.

I went with @Caliraisedled ditch lights for the front. The mounts were very clean and the light output was awesome. For the rear I went a small @Baja Designs light that is hooked into the reverse light wiring so it only comes on when I’m reversing. I needed this because reversing at night it can be very dark back there. Next was a different change.

I know the wheels to most look exactly the same as my method wheels and for the most part they do. But I really wanted to get a wheel that was designed for Toyota’s. And seeing in my area all of the method wheels people have I wanted my truck to stand out in some areas. I also enjoyed supporting @SCSPerformance. since they are a vendor on here. The wheels shipped very fast and the customer service from them was some of the best I have ever received.

Next mod was refining the plasti dipped bumpers. Instead I went a bumper cover from @EC1. A new company that just started fitting tundras. They are very well known in the Tacoma world though. It fits right over the chrome and bolts up to existing bolts. While doing this I relaxed my flooded fog lights with @Caliraisedled fog light cube replacements. I went with the amber colored lighting. The output is great and they look clean.

I like both colors and I do miss the quicksand but where I live finding a used tundra in quicksand was not easy at all.

I’m new to tundras. Where did you find the price above the grille in mgm?

That’s called the hood bulge. Go to Toyota of Cool Springs and search it. Cost me about 600 for the color matched grill and hood bulge for my mgm

Looks great. I see you removed mud flaps- what other trimming was involved? My truck came with 20" wheels so I am waiting for the tires to wear some more and then plan to get similar 18" wheels- those 295/70s look sweet. Also thought about keeping 20's and going 295/65. Take care.

Decided to Plasti dip my mirror covers today. Came out really nice! Now that I’m more comfortable with plasti dip I’ll start attacking some of the larger parts of my truck!

Today I tinted my front windows 20 percent to match the rear and then added 4 D-rings to the bed. Pretty easy install some grinding and bolt shaving involved but straight forward.

NICE!! MGM dominates. How does the TOYTEC /Eibach 3/1 ride on street compared to stock TRD? How about on the dirt/sand? Also, can you tell what trimming was required for zero rub with your wheel/tire combo? Love the clean look of your truck and that window tint makes a difference. TKS.

I think that overall on road and off-road the Toytec/Eibach is a lot better then the stock set up. In order to clear the tires you will need to do trimming to the front fender liner.

Yeah and I had an MBRP exhaust on my Tacoma so I know all about drone!!! But it doesn’t bother me at all. Plus I got this exhaust for 300 dollars on offer up can’t beat that! I’ll probably switch to another dirty deeds exhaust before I leave California!
