I didn't realize there was a difference between black housing and smoked-chrome. Good to know!

Is the grey wire that is de-pinned to get rid of the DRL used to switch the LED DRL if we don't de-pin?

If you don’t depin it you can just splice black to gray but this will result in Amber alongside the LED DRL

Ok Thanks! I used the cheap home depot splicer so maybe that's my problem. LED DRLs don't come on unless I turn on the parking lights.

Try pushing the gray wire all the way into the white connector, sometimes the movement loosen the connection

So you did not have the gray wire depined?

If you have a chance send me a picture of the gray>black wire and the blue positap to black on the other side

Just a general question, So in order to have the LED come on and stay on when you turn on the ignition you need to run a wire from the Black wire to the gray wire? I might be getting a harness in the near future and want to make sure i understand the installation process.

Ya, I had the grey wire still connected to the factory connector. I'll dig in later today and take a photo.

question for those that have installed the 18+ lights onto sr5 pro trucks ect... are the led drl's supposed to dim or turn off when the headlights are turned on? mine turn completely off when i turn the headlights on. i used ihackers harness and did the amber delete. the drl is on when the headlight switch is off and in parking but nothing in headlights.
if they are supposed to be dim, which from my understanding they are, what did i do wrong? thanks

Something is wrong, they should dim but not turn off. I think you need to move or disconnect a pin somewhere but the master will know. Hes a busy man so you may wanna PM or email him

ok so the issue ended up being something i did when i had my last set of retros in. i clipped the purple wire by the turn signal socket to eliminate the amber drl. apparently that wire is needed with the set up. ihacker spent over an hour with me troubleshooting late at night. turns out it was something i had done. i cant say enough good about him. for those looking for a harness, @iHacker is your guy. thanks again!

Just placed my order with toyotaofcoolsprings for the headlights and fogs:

81210-48051 Fog Lamp Assembly (Right Side)
81220-48051 Fog Lamp Assembly (Left Side)
81110-0C211 Headlamp Assembly Right-Hand - LED DRL - TRD PRO
81150-0C211 Headlamp Assembly Left-Hand - LED DRL - TRD PRO

Ordered iHacker's $140 for dimming DLR's as well. Excited to be able to friggin see at night. My 2016CM has about the worst lights of any car/truck I've had. Spending the money on the lights is a good deterrent to upgrading to a 2019 TRD....that's what I keep telling myself anyway ;)

How much for all of this? I have a 2017 and I hate the headlights but I am not sure this is a project I should undertake myself. People have said it was easy but I tend to make it harder than it has to be. :)

That is good to know. Ive emailed @iHacker a few times and he has been really cool about answering my questions. I have been saving up for the past two months for the new "face lift" with the lights and grill and its good to know that when i do buy the harness from him, he will be there to help out, as im sure i will FU$%UP one aspect or another of the install process. So glad to be part of this awesome community.

It was $871.90 with shipping (and with the $10 off shipping code). Then add another $140 for the harness from iHacker which dims the LED DRL's when the headlights are on. BTW - I got the harness on the 28th, and ordered on the 25th.

Christ on a pogo stick. I'll need to either sell a gun, wait on a loved one to die and see what they will me, or get an increase in my VA disability payment.

Never, ever sell a gun. Just wait a few weeks. Last year @Roman offered free shipping for Black Friday, which helped a lot. Don't know what they plan on doing this year, but I'm sure they'll do something.

Yeah, seems like a lot until you consider the pros and cons:

Pro- Hated the shitty lights on my 16CM so much I installed light bar concealed in the bump, but can't run it all the time as it's too bright. These lights and fogs will fix this.
Pro - Considered going retrofit LEDs ($1200), but have read so many BS stories of problems afterward, decided not too. These lights and fogs fix the issue for less money with OEM quality.
Pro - Was considering (rather seriously) buying a 19 TRD PRO, but I like my truck (other than the shitty lights) and I drive less than 4 miles to work each way. This way, I keep my truck that has 16K miles and save a boat load of money on a truck that is functionally equivalent besides having better headlights and fog lights.

Con - I'm out a $1k to fix a problem Toyota never should had but I could perhaps pull and sell the parts if/when I sell or trade the truck though I doubt I would bother.

EDIT: You could save $260 by getting the headlights alone and upgrading fogs when you had the money. And saving $50 shipping if there is a BF deal there...

This mod is totally worth it. If you skip the fog lights you can probably do the headlights and harness for about 500-650. You might find used lights for sale here, chrome or smoked, from someone who is "upgrading" to the new black pro version. I think even new the headlights are 540ish, plus harness is under 700. Very much worth the money, especially if you can hold off on the fogs, maybe look into other LED fog options for less money. Keep an eye here, ebay, Ebay coupons , and various online stores for a sale or a deal. You find something man.

Picked up a set of headlights from a member and another @iHacker harness this evening for my buddies Tundra. He was planning to upgrade his headlights when I was doing mine but the same day we were ordering parts he wife had a mishap in the Dunkin donuts drive thru that put those plans on hold for him. He keeps checking out my lights and I finally came across a good deal for him so he jumped on it. Install is planned for a week from today. I have a platinum so the install on his limited is going to be a little more work. Thanks to @midnight for the lights and @iHacker for one very bad ass, high quality harness and installation instructions.
