Hey there Tundra lovers! I'm looking to do a bed cover (mostly for long trips) and I'm wondering which is the best way to go. Which brand is best and why? How did price come into play with your selection if you have one? What is everyone's thoughts and input on this subject? I'm kinda lost on this one so any help would be absolutely fantastic.

I have the Bakflip MX4. I chose it because it allows you to have access to the full bed if necessary. It’s also cheaper than most retractable ones, and it just looks the coolest in my opinion. I like the flush look.

Love my roll up. Bak revolver x2.
Super low profile, strong enough for me to stand on, decent price, looks good, keeps everything dry underneath. Its easy to use and install

Had the dealer throw in my Rugged 2 tri fold cover and absolutely love that it’s water tight and can fold it up in 30 seconds and completely remove it in about 45 seconds. Nice to have secure storage without minimizing the use of the truck bed.

Bak-Flip HD is what we have and really like the flexibility of the cover.

I have the encore extang. Works well very little water intrusion and you can take it completely off in a couple minutes. I have had a truxedo soft roll up and that worked well too but you camnot take it off quickly. Truxedo does make a hard roll up that would be worth a look as well

No one has mentioned diamondback yet?!
That’s what I would have if I didn’t need to get a cover on a short deadline when I picked mine. Will probably switch to one at some point!
    I do have a MX4 currently and it’s great!

X2 on this one. I had it on an F150 and it was easy and simple to flip as well as remove. My Tundra came with a solid fiberglass cover which limits the use of the bed to some extent. Removing it isn't the easiest...

If you want to save a buck check out the TonnoPro on Amazon. Probably a 3rd or less than the backflip and does the same thing. Comes off easy with one person, keeps everything dry, and looks good. $250...

Thanks.guys. it looks like the hard flip takes it. I'd like to get a Bak MX4 but dang they are pricey. The Tonno Pro may be a good option depending on quality difference. I'll have to look at the reviews on each and go to the shop to compare.

MX4 is pricey but well worth it. There was a group buy on them for $600 last year so I jumped on that deal real quick.

Undercover Flex. I choose this over Bakflip, since it was my understanding Bakflip rested against paint on cab. Undercover Flex never touches the cab in the upright position.

Took a trip to Phoenix this weekend. Have an Extang 2.0. Drove through some rain, and everything inside was pretty wet. This cover is not even close to water tight.

I just purchased the Bak MX4. I had one on an F150 and loved it and a good buddy just installed one on his Ram. They look good and doing a good job of keeping everything dry.

I always had ARE caps on my previous trucks but my new Tundra has the slide down rear window so, after a lot of research, I went with the Bakflip MX4. IMO, the MX4 has the best look of the folding tonneaus. I considered an ARE hard tonneau but they limit the heights of what you can carry. I have no doubt that the hard tonneaus are best for keeping water out but I traded it that for the versatility of a folding tonneau.
The MX4 also will allow me to put a removeable low-profile rack over it. I'm designing one using unistrut and Pocket-Lok stake inserts. It's probably going to cost me about $200.00 to make it but it will be extremely strong and versatile. I'll post pictures of it when I get it done.

Yep, that has been my experience. I went with the Undercover Elite painted tonneau cover. Yes, its plastic but I can pull it off myself or with my wife and hang it on wall in 10 mins without any tools. Water tight, not a drop in the bed and it was tested the last few weeks in heavy downpours in central texas. Lock is keyed to truck key and lock is vertical. I am surprised how much I like it now, just hope it lasts (has lifetime warranty so we shall see). Downfall is that you cant run with it up or resting on a load in the bed, unlike the fiberglass lids. I have a SnugTop fiberglass lid on other truck and it looks great and is sturdy but too heavy to take off alone and other helper needs a little height to help with removal or it becomes awkward but I could haul with it resting on items in the bed and never had an issue with structure. SnugTop even repainted it for me after 10 years because clearcoar started to peel a little.

Have the Solid Fold 2.0 as well and mine leaks a little at the edge of the folds. There's some water on the edge of the bed but not in the middle so its ok for now. Will see how long it lasts.

Just left Killam Truck tops in East Windsor, CT (this isn’t and advertisement)

They inspected my Extang 2.0 and because there is a 3 year warranty- they are giving me a brand new one.

It seems that the Extang manufacturing process has changed - so the air bubble I have on my current cover and the leaks I get are (should be) got to be eliminated.

If you’ve had your cover for 3 years or less go have it checked out. You still need to have the date code sticker on the bottom of your cover showing build date.

which truxedo did you have? i have the lopro and all i do it roll it up, pull two levers and it's off. i went soft roll up because my truck is a work truck. i often need full access to the bed and i don't like that the trifolds block the window when they're "out of the way". full hards are a pita to take off and put back on again when you need to use the bed.
