I've had my Tundra since May. On day three, a wild turkey flew out in front of my truck, glanced off my hood, slid up my windshield, and went flying into the weeds. I have no idea if it lived. Stupid delicious bird is supposed to be flightless, yet he was flying in front my new Tundra. Miraculously, there was no damage, not even a scratch. A month later, I creamed a bird and there was no sign of him. I was scared he'd be stuck somewhere in the radiator, but I was lucky. Then this morning, out of nowhere, another avian offender nosedived down in front of my precious Tundra and was promptly delivered into bird heaven. Again, no damage to my truck. So the score is Tundra: 3 Birds: 0. But why? Is it my color? Cement? Does it blend in? Do bird eyes not see it?

I've hit a few birds in my older trucks. First truck was red and claimed 2 pigeons. Second truck was white and claimed at least one pigeon, a squirrel and a Volvo. So it isn't the color, birds are just stupid.

I know birds are dumb, I wasn't seriously suggesting my truck's color draws them in. Just having some fun and letting off steam about the bird strikes my truck has endured.

Yep. In our old neighborhood, we had about 30 turkeys strolling around. They would fly from roof top to roof top (our dogs would loose their shit). Then they would make their way up into a tree for the night.

Drove an 18 wheeler for a few years. When I was first hired, was driving with an instructor, a British resident who lived in Pensacola. We hit a bird or two in the few weeks he rode with me. He made the funniest comment after one hit us....dead serious....."Birds have no concept of the height of big rigs."

    Cracked me up.

What’s your secret? Special wax? I bagged a turkey last March with 2700 miles on my ‘18. It came through the grill and took out my radiator, support, and a/c condenser. $5000.

We have something similar up im Palos Verdes. But we have stupid peacocks the do the same thing. At least they are pretty. But they have a really annoying whine that they do. And they are protected so you can’t kill them.

I feel your pain... I have hit several birds and I have the sky silver. The last one went though the mesh of the Pro Grill and I had to order another one from Roman.
