Yeah that makes sense. What a bummer though. Also seems like a shame to take a perfectly running truck with that many original miles and dump it. Kinda neat to have that kinda mileage.

Sweet! Hope it works out well for you! Keep us updated with pics and progress!

Yeah now that you mention it it is kinda a bummer to just have to scrap it, hoping to get my engine to those kinds of numbers some day

Thanks! I already have the rear alcantara seats and door panels from Ebay Germany while I'm using USA sedan front seats, steering wheel, shifter boot, and cube trim). Working on getting a M54B30 block. Already have the ZHP cams.

You should definitely try to negotiate down - even just not having a gear shifter is reason to.
Have you included in your estimates parting the rest of the donor truck out after the body swap? Like you said, the transmission is supposed to be good and there might be a few other odds and ends that can get you some coin back.
    Good luck!

Well not to revive a dead thread, but this past weekend I was supposed to pull the trigger on the donor, had my funds lined up and even bought a greyhound ticket to get out to the location, but he texted me and told me on that day that somebody had stopped by with cash and bought it out from under me. So now I'm back on the market for another donor

Fook! That’s sucks dude. Well I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I understand the guy sold it because it was a sure thing because they had cash. That’s kind of messed up being that you were going to take a bus all the way out there. Hopefully you can return your bus ticket. I guess next time you have to leave a deposit but that’s sketchy to do as well.

Couldn't return it because my cheap ass opted to not pay the extra like $4 for the safety ticket for the greyhound, so I'm out $60 on that. But yeah I get it, can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if I were in that position

Gonna see how much I can talk down a guy that's selling an 01 AC with 220k miles, he's asking $6k for it. Has what looks like a dent from a trailer hitch in the lower door on the passenger side, but other than that virtually no rust. If I can get a sweet enough deal for it might just keep that truck and swap everything over from mine onto it.
By chance, has anyone tried swapping the bucket seats OUT for a bench seat? Can't see myself parting with the convenience of a bench

I’ve heard of people doing it several times. The bench in these trucks is way nicer IMO.

I like having a good sized console and a comfy armrest.

Wow this is just getting so frustrating, had to tell the guy that I was going to buy the second truck to go scratch because he was trying to make up that he had another buyer and was trying to ween another few hundred out of me after we already settled on a price.
So now I'm unfortunately on the market again and I'm slowly getting an aneurysm

Is the truck going to stay mainly a wheeler, beater, daily driver?

If I was 18 years younger here's what I would do. Find a scrap vehicle with a good cab. Cut your cab off at all the pillars and weld the new cab on. Roof swaps/chops are common in the hot rod and collision world. Save the doors you can, replace the ones you can't.

Me now. Sell it for whatever I could get for it. Find a new toy.
