My 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 V6 mechanical oil gauge drops to near zero at idle. Using 5W-30 full synthetic oil. 68,000 miles runs good.

what does it do when you're driving? have you checked the oil level on the dipstick? the oil gauge simply measures oil pressure, which will be much lower at ice than when the truck is moving.

Oil level is always full. Does not use any oil between changes. When driving gauge readings vary between just above 1st mark and at 2nd or middle mark. When first started and engine I’d cold gauge reads up to 3rd mark.

You’re fine. That’s exactly what my dads 02 has always done.

Mine does the same, it's normal. Here's the info from the owner's manual for the 2002 Tundra.

And you can download the owner's manual from Toyota's web site as a .pdf file.
