If folks spent the money on a license plate reader rather than just a camera, some of these thieving pieces of shit might get caught.

cameras arent that great for viewing license plates, unless your spending thousands of dollars for a video security system even that is still questionable.

Sorry to hear about this OP. Very frustrating to watch and not be able to stop it. I would print pictures of that vehicle and post them in your neighborhood. I would also post them on the next door app if you have one. I would make sure all your neighbors know what vehicle it is. The more eyes looking for them the better chance you may have of catching a license plate for them. I might have even put another spare tire in the bed of the truck with a tracker on it. Then leave the tailgate down at night. If the thief takes the second tire you will have them tracked! Report the location to the police and I’m sure they will find a lot more stolen property at the location.

Maybe even set a spare tire up with a air horn attached to it. So when they lift the tire the air horn goes off. That would be classic!

I've only seen those cameras in use at either embassy's or secured locations. Anything is possible for your residence, really depends on what your willing to spend.

To the OP, I would get as much pictures of the truck that stopped at your home to rob that tire. I would share it with your neighbors. I believe that truck has been through your neighborhood before casing yours other properties as well.

Please make sure and file a police report and share what information you have with them.

The last thing, I would do and check with your lawyer is to possibly share this video on a social media platform. Sorry about the luck of having these scumbags take something. Unfortunately the damn laws protect them more then you. So I wouldn't advise placing anything on your truck that could physically hurt them.

As for trackers, research live asset tracking. One such company is www.liveviewgps.com We use them for asset tracking of our construction equipment and trucks. You would be surprised the amount of skid steer loaders are stolen in our area. Since the older ones technically have no serial numbers. They are easily shipped out of the country.

Keep us posted and and good luck:thumbsup:

That's shitty. Gonna show my wife so she understands why I bother running a heavy cable lock on my spare. That's also why I opted to lose a bit of bed space and have mine lay flat.

On the bright side if you do fit those 35s you wouldn't use that spare right?

Is it bad that I hope he uses that spare? Then I hope it pops while he’s doing 80 and he rolls his truck. I hope he only injures himself though.
