im just getting my research done here before I spend money... I’m wanting to get fox 2.5 coil overs and have been eyeballing those Camburg control arms, but I’ve read a few comments here and there of some of you who either were trying to avoid Uni-ball applications or weren’t happy with them for reasons I am unaware, so I was hoping you guys could chime in on the cons?

Camburg in particular induces A LOT of caster. I had a set and switched to MCM which is in the middle, caster wise, between TC and Camburg. Uni balls aren't 100% maintenance free thought the maintenance is minimal. I have to wipe/ wash mine after wheeling or they will be a little noisy. In the road salt areas you've got a uniball exposed to all the grime. I imagine they'd need to be cleaned pretty frequently.

I don't have anything against the Uniball, but I do prefer the SPC UCAs. More adjustability and a sealed joint.

Uniballs require more maintenance and many are afraid or don't want to deal with it. I have 15k on my TC UCA's without any issues, but I also clean and lubricate the uniballs after each off-road adventure. Did the same on my FJ and had no problems. Not running dust caps or uniball covers.

I went with the SPC UCA's because my research here and elsewhere on the net showed it required less maintenance than the uni-ball. I suspect the uni-ball has other features which may make it more desirable for some folks though.

Because 2 balls produce more sperm, anyways some are worried of the maintenance required but I hear it’s easy. I’m saving for uniballs, TC specifically

I don’t think I’ll have an issue with maintenance, one of my favorite things about the truck is keeping it maintained, with the Fox shocks I would plan to set them at +3” lift, so I think the Camburg’s extensive caster may be beneficial since I’m not doing a spindle lift? I’ll be putting the Deaver mini pack and slightly larger shackles in the rear to get it level with that setup

Edit: thank you everyone for your input

I run Fox 2.5’s with Camburg UCA’s and haven’t had any issues. Seems a little tight at full turn but that’s it. Light cleaning and tri-flow lube.

For those running the spc’s, how close are they in size to stock control arms? I’ve heard they were basically the same size, which would limit the size of the tire you could run wouldn’t it?

I’m running 35x12.5” with my spcs and have about a half inch of room. Not much no.

The reason I chose spc with the balls instead of unis is because there’s a lot of winter and salt where I live. No boots and grease equal no good.

No sir no issues yet. A lot of peeps are weary of losing alignment of spc’s if wheeling hard. I’ve wheeled the piss out of mine so far. Got a few inches of air and didn’t lose alignment. I’m a fan so far.

Most hesitant guys live in areas where there is snow and salty roads. You're in Menifee, not a problem for you.

I put Camburg uniballs on my truck in 2010 when I lived in Riverside. They've done around 130k miles since then and barely at the point where it's time for new bushings and balls. It's easier than swapping a ball joint but a bit more expensive of a part. 8 years until next replacement doesn't bother me a bit.

They will make some hilarious noises for the first few days, just remember you spent good money for those sounds but it goes away.

Considering installing the delta joint in my TC arms when the uniball is done. Probably won't be for another 2-3 years. Will be interesting to see high mileage vehicles with the delta joint.

Anyone run SCS wheels with Camburg uniball uppers? According to Camburg site max backspacing with these arms is 6”, SCS wheels are right at that distance. Going for 34” tires.

    Thanks,

There shouldn't be any issues with our wheels with any brand of UCA.
