Just buy a lower trim level or shop at a different dealer. You can get these trucks in the high 30's/low 40's if you can do without all the bells/whistles. Base double cab "work trucks" were low 30's at my dealer, even then they were pretty well equipped.

You won't do much better than that. I paid $46,500 for my Platinum (before TTL) with the sunroof as the only option.I can guarantee that when it's gone you WILL pay more for a '19.
My OCD would never allow me to forgive myself for letting that one get away.

I wont lower the trim level. I wont settle. The Platinum has everything that I need and want. Granted, the OR and the Sport are nice and if I had to pick, id got with the Sport, BUT its the Platinum that that has the power folding mirrors (needed to park in my garage) memory seat, dual climate control and the heated and cooled leather seats. If I were to add all that to the Sport, Id be over the price of a Platinum, not cost effective at all.

I have seen posts here about guys paying 43k-44k for the truck, of course not including TTL.

Save up and get one next year. Or find another dealer in another state who might be hard up to sell one, agree to price via email and be willing to fly out and drive back. Emailing dealers is free except whatever your time costs.

Honestly if I was in 50k+ range for a truck I'd probably start shopping Duramax even if a more basic level to get more beef for the dollar. I don't personally feel the higher trim level tundra dollar for dollar hold up to the higher trim level on some of the other big three 1/2 tons as far as advanced tech, fancy buttons, and gadgets. Dont get me wrong. I still think the tundra is a more solid realiable vehicle. But if I'm shopping for bells and whistles on highly equipped 1/2 ton trucks in the 50 grand range, I'm probably looking outside of Toyota.

    If u can’t get a good deal on a 18 u might as well buy 19. Cause a 2018 is a year old already.

I got my tundra for under cost. I traded in my Tacoma and my monthly payments went down. I have a 2018 trd offroad and getting into a tundra sr (sr5 plus build) with 5.7. pretty excited to pick it up on Saturday!

I just made the switch from a 16 Tacoma TRD OR fully built to the 2017 tundra SR5 Crewmax. Once you feel the 5.7L V8 it’s a million times better then then 3.5l in the Tacoma. I hope you find a deal out there!

Waah, waah, waah, aren't we spoiled lol. Seriously though, just personal opinion, this is a truck, not a Benz S-class luxury yatch. I can deal with cloth seats and fewer options if it saves me $10,000.

Also as far as all the ginger-bread/lard, the big 3 do a much better job on top end features/tech than Toyota. Go sit in a King Ranch or F150 Platinum or even an old style 2018 top of the line Dodge Ram(2019 Ram is even nicer). They blow the Tundra out of the water on how nice the interior is IMO. GM trucks have more bells/whistles than a Tundra as well, but their interior design sucks IMO, it looks cheap/very dated, their new interiors look almost exactly like the interiors from the 2014 trucks.

Pretty much on point across the board but I will give the guy credit for knowing what he wants and not lowering expectations.

Agreed 100% tundra is a truck truck not an old man highway cruiser like a Sierra Denali

This is good advice. I did the exact thing and have locked in my 2019. The cost is savings even after I drive from Ohio to Texas is still just slightly below $2K and this is a TRD PRO

Agree totally. I got a Toyota for the reliability and that it was more of a truck than the other manufacturers cartrucks are, knowing that the gas mileage was worse than the big 3 and that it wasn't equipped as "fancy" as them on comparable trim levels either. I've got friends with both Ford and GM products and the issues they have would drive me bonkers. Don't even get me going on Dodge 1/2 tons.
I've always been of the philosophy that the more doo-dads you add to a vehicle, the higher the odds of you having issues down the road... and I tend to keep my vehicles for a while. As an example I used my 1996 F-250 XLT PS as a trade-in on the Tundra. Doubt the Tundra will last that long (or any manufacturers now) honestly as they are made to be more disposable.

We went in looking for a 2018 since there were good deals to be had on them but our local Toyota dealer, who is a great dealer by the way, brought a 2019 up that had just come in on the truck and worked a deal for it for just a little more than what the 2018 would have ran. Their philosophy is sell lots of vehicles - not sell a few at higher markup.

Welp, it is done!! The time has come! I HAVE GOT MY TUNDRA!!!!!! The only thing that I settled on was getting a used over a new but the deal was too good to pass up. I will post up in introductions if anyone that is following this thread is interested in going there for details. Thanks to everyone for their opinions, recommendations and pointers.
