Anyone install an electric power outlet?

Has anyone here installed an electric power outlet in their Tundra? Some Tacomas had it as an option, and it was really helpful. I'd like to get one on the Tundra, and I am curious what others have experienced. I think some of the winches have power outlets on them, which would resolve it. Thanks

 

I have this I’m not sure if it’s what you need but it’s a good option. I use it for tailgating to connect speakers or fans

Depending on what you need to use it for I would look into an inverted with alligator clips to hook directly up to the battery.

 

Real basic power tools like circular saws, drills, etc.

 

Saws draw a ton of power, you're probably looking in the range of at least a 1500w inverter. You might be better off looking at some 2000w generators.

If you don’t already own a small portable generator, I would go that route. You will use it a ton. My Honda E2000 has been a wonderful power supply......I have a 3500 watt inverter installed in my truck. It is mounted in back of the back seat. The outlets come out the back of the center console. The inverter is wired directly to a second battery under the hood. I have a marine battery tender mounted under the hood that is used to charge the battery. I have an alarm on my phone that reminds me one night every other week to plug in. I use it maybe 5 times a year... I will take some pics for you. Would I do it again? Probably not because I always seem to use that little generator.

 

I previously owned a 2016 GMC Sierra. It had the 110V power outlet onboard which was great for plugging in the laptop on the road. I must say, I was pretty disappointed that the 2018 Tundra that I purchased did not have this as a standard feature. I will definitely be purchasing one of these inverters.

Even the Ram has the outlet. How could Toyota think its necessary to put into one truck (Tacoma) but not the other (Tundra).

 

Bought this about 13 years ago. Works great for powering phones and Li-Ion batteries. Charges faster than line voltage! Charger articulates to accomodate different angles.

 

I think I want this in the back of my truck. Mainly for camping, or tailgating. I know I will need a second battery set up. So.... Gotta think bout that too... What u guys think of this set up?

 

I installed a hardwired system with outlets in the bed and in the rear of the center console.
